That's too bad. The race is going to be a lot more boring without him.

It's not like he had any shot at all, but he torpedoed his own campaign within the first few days of his announcement.

By telling the truth. Can't have that.

He barely had support in the GOP polls. The real news is that several of his top guys were Rick Perry's guys, and this may signal that he's going to get in the race.

Perry would quickly become the favorite, IMO.

Yeah, I think Perry would have a good shot at the nomination.

And being governor of Texas - well, that's pretty much the best preparation you can get. I wonder if Mr. Perry has read "The Pet Goat"?

They all resigned because he wouldn't stop eating their lunches in the fridge.

Gingrich intended to follow much the same strategy that Giuliani followed in 2008, picking and choosing states and not being willing to campaign everywhere.

I also think that this is an indication that Gov. Perry is considering a run.

He called the author of the plan, Rep. Paul Ryan, to apologize but did not back off his objections. Within days, he had dropped from sight, embarking on a cruise to the Greek Isles with his wife, Callista, while rivals for the Republican nomination kept up their campaign appearances.

Actually he was in Greece to have secret liposuction under his chin.

Interesting...
But Perry was reluctant to run for the nomination without key advisers, including his former campaign manager Rob Johnson and his top political consultant Dave Carney, both of whom were working on the presidential campaign of former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.

Johnson and Carney announced their resignations from the Gingrich campaign Thursday as part of a huge shake-up of the organization.
