Draft Shabazz. Sign Bynum, JO, and Jack. Instant contender.

You have to like the Shabazz is willing to do all of these drills.

The other lotto guys are in the bleachers watching.

The others theoretically have something to lose

Shabazz could lose A LOT by shooting worse than anticipated (as he shot better than anticipated this season. More team to see consistency in his mechanics or lack of, etc.)

Really doesn't have to prove anything. Other than he is willing to work hard, learn, and just wants to ball.

Its the Lillard effect.

At the start of the season Shabazz was a lock to be a top 5 pick. Now he's projected around the late lottery, so his draft stock has already taken a hit.

He has more to gain than lose at this point.

6'4.75 w/o shoes
6'6.25" w/shoes
6'11" wingspan

Is there a link to the official lists so far? Not that I have any idea who most of the guys are, but it would be neat to see their heights.

I wouldn't be upset with Shabazz, if at 10.

That guy calls Carter-Williams "dominant defensively". If that's true, then I want THAT guy. But that's not what I've read elsewhere.

Kind of hard to call a Syracuse player 'dominant' considering all they play is zone under Boeheim.

I'd love to get Shabazz at 10. I'm growing on that idea and almost hoping we don't trade the pick now. Almost everyone else i'v seen at 10 i'd rather just trade the pick away for, not sure why i'm buying into the Shabazz hype so much.

Carter-Williams doesn't excite me at all. I get the idea of a 6-6 PG being an interesting prospect and his APG were surprisingly high but he didn't excite me when I watched his team (maybe once this season), I don't see him as something special. By the way, that kid they compare to Ray Allen that is now first in the NBAdraft.net mock-draft, I've seen his team play once and didn't even notice he was on the floor until after a few minutes the broadcaster mentioned his name. I read a scouting report about him in MM's thread that said he tends to disappear so maybe it was one of these games. He's one of the players I'm glad will go high because it means other players will be available for us...

If Shabazz is all that and a bag of chips I can guarantee he will go in the top 5 maybe even top 4. Do you know how hard it is to find pure SG nowadays? Everyone wants to be combo guards.

Of notable concern, Shabazz Muhammad was much smaller, measuring just 6-4.75 in socks and 6-6.25 in shoes. He does have a 6-11 wingspan. However, another general manager seemed very troubled by this revelation.

"It's a problem. If you're on the fence about him, this could push you off," the GM said. "As a shot-creator, size matters. Especially with the length of the new wave of small forwards like Paul George. His wingspan helps, but only if he plays defense. And he doesn't."

As a SF but he easily has above average size for a SG.

He's definitely a shooting guard. Definitely, definitely a shooting guard. (Dustin Hoffman in Rain man voice...)

Sounds like a GM that wants Bazz to drop to him.

Ok, I'll stop this nonsense, this is the player we should take: Giannis Adektobu, currently number 20 on nbadraft.net's mock. Hopefully, he wouldn't be unavailable to us by the time of the draft.

He certainly sounds intriguing, albeit INCREDIBLY raw.

I definitely do NOT want Muhammad.

This guru: http://hoopsanalyst.com/ hates his game.

Hoops Analyst on last year's draft. His analysis is pretty awful.

C: Portland Trail Blazers: Drafted Damian Lillard in a pick acquired for Gerald Wallace and drafted Meyers Leonard with their pick. A few things bother me about this. The first is getting Lillard for Wallace is a downgrade in talent. That’s never good. The next is both picks are wild reaches. Granted there wasn’t much available here, but they could have done better. Finally, they needed a point guard and Lillard is more of a combo. I don’t see him making the quick transition from small college gunner to starting NBA point guard.

I am not sure someone could give a worse analysis on a player just drafted. No one wonder why a few of our posters were so wrong about Lillard. They were probably reading this guy.

Here's an even better quote about Lillard from this "expert":

I have my doubts that Damian Lillard can become more than a 3rd or 4th guard in the NBA. At best I see him as an instant offense player off a bench who can fill it up and run the offense semi-effectively for short stretches. At worst he’s just a gunner who doesn’t have the passing or defensive chops to get consistent court time. I wouldn’t use a lottery pick on him and I certainly wouldn’t draft him if a player with the upside of Waiters or Wroten were still on the board.

Sounds like the Blazers should take this guys advice, and do the absolute complete opposite of. So if he doesn't like Shabazz, Shabazz will be ROY.

Worst shooters from NBA Draft Combine on Thur: Myck Kabongo (32%), Shabazz Muhammad (36%), Andre Roberson (42%)
Shooting Guard, huh? ;)

Clearly an Olshey smokescreen! Nice subterfuge! :)

Will Shabazz be a bust or will he be a great player? The answer is that nobody knows. He's got NBA size which helps, he was highly touted coming out of high-school which doesn't necessarily mean anything, but doesn't hurt, he had a pretty "blah" season at UCLA in terms of showing off a diverse skill set which doesn't help, but he was willing to compete in all of the pre-draft drills which suggests that maybe he's got a little bit of competitive fire (or maybe he's trying to be shrewd?) and that doesn't hurt. There's really nothing else to say until he goes up against NBA talent, except that it's certainly OK to have concerns about how he'll adjust to the next level.

In any case, if Olshey drafts him, I'll assume there was nobody better and that he thinks there's a spot and a role for him on this roster, if I say anything else I'm just pretending to know things that I don't.

The question about Shabazz rattling around me lately relates to
Shabazz vs. Jemery Lamb

I would trade #10 for Lamb+PJ3 in a heartbeat - not sure if OKC would or not.

However, I do know that neither saw any playoff minutes (actually, they saw 5 minutes combined).
