I honestly just read the name Quick and went as far the other direction as my head would let me.I so desperately want what Quick does. I fear that Kjironman will be right.
So, how do we feel about Quick’s bold take for Sharpe from The Athletic’s annual bold take column for each team in the league?
“Shaedon Sharpe becomes a household name: In this third season, the 21-year-old shooting guard will win the slam dunk contest at All-Star Weekend (book it) and will lead the Blazers in scoring. Even with last week’s setback — the Blazers announced Sharpe will miss four-to-six weeks with a tear in his left shoulder — he should return in November and have plenty of season to display his shooting and leaping skills. Sharpe last season was starting to blossom in December, compiling consecutive games of 29, 25, 26, 24, and 27 points before developing an abductor strain that led to surgery in January and limited him to only 32 games. Even with high-volume shooters Anfernee Simons and Jerami Grant as teammates, the 6-foot-6 Sharpe has the talent to be the No. 1 option and is ready to pop onto the scene and validate why the Blazers took him seventh in the 2022 draft. — Jason Quick”
all that is possible, but I'm worried that labrum tear will end up being more than a 4-6 week problem
I'd also question that Ant and Grant will defer enough usage and shot attempts to Sharpe to allow him to be the leading scorer
As a general rule, when a player is ready to become the #1 option, they take over. Their teammates know and the coaches know when it is their time. I wouldn't worry about Grant and Ant being so selfish that they would prevent him from doing so. People were saying that last year as well. We just need to get the guy on the court first.
He needs to demand the ball more if he wants shots.all that is possible, but I'm worried that labrum tear will end up being more than a 4-6 week problem

They’re always trying to lose. Portland is the most corrupt organization in the NBA.They are trying to lose. Just wait this out. Sharpe will need season ending surgery.
LOLThey’re always trying to lose. Portland is the most corrupt organization in the NBA.
And he may do that if there weren't a bunch of vets who didn't want to give him the ball.He needs to demand the ball more if he wants shots.
Not true. LeBron was LeBron right away, Ricky Davis wasn’t in his way.And he may do that if there weren't a bunch of vets who didn't want to give him the ball.
Cleveland had to trade Ricky Davis before LeBron could take over. LeBron.
Yeah I've seen interviews with Paul Silas in which he said the exact opposite. He didn't call Ricky Davis out by name but it was very clear. Not true. LeBron was LeBron right away, Ricky Davis wasn’t in his way.
That's just not the way it works. I mean, otherwise Jermaine would have been an All Star as a Blazer...If Shaedon doesn't want to show that he should be a number 1 on a rebuilding team on its way up, not sure he ever will want to be a one? Thats strictly up to Shaedon Sharpe as to if the team wants to build around him.
And is STILL putting up big numbers…… huh?Not true. LeBron was LeBron right away, Ricky Davis wasn’t in his way.
Remind us who you’re voting for next month?
It wasn’t. He was great from the first game on.Yeah I've seen interviews with Paul Silas in which he said the exact opposite. He didn't call Ricky Davis out by name but it was very clear.
He said the difference in LeBron after getting those guys off the team was remarkable. It was critical for his development.
He struggled. Paul Silas said it made a huge difference getting those guys gone and LeBron was able to be more assertive. It wasn’t. He was great from the first game on.
He didn’t struggle. I mean, his first game was one of the best of his career. He struggled. Paul Silas said it made a huge difference getting those guys gone and LeBron was able to be more assertive.
His first game was “one of the best of his career”? Sigh…..He didn’t struggle. I mean, his first game was one of the best of his career.
He struggled in practice and in team settings. He wasn't comfortable. There is a reason they made so many changes after drafting LeBron. He didn’t struggle. I mean, his first game was one of the best of his career.
Lebron James played 79 games and 39.5 minutes a game his rookie season. Ricky Davis was traded after 22 games in Cleveland and was never any real issue. Part of what you are saying is correct they traded him but he was not in the conversation long enough to ever hold Lebron back. There are quotes by Ricky that he felt Lebron wasn't really ready but that's pretty much only Ricky himself.Yeah I've seen interviews with Paul Silas in which he said the exact opposite. I think this is probably true. They made a decision to just go with Lebron and give him the keys. That usually makes any player better. He struggled. Paul Silas said it made a huge difference getting those guys gone and LeBron was able to be more assertive.
Correct, once someone is ready to take the next leap, they will naturally supplant others. That's common sense. If Shaedon doesn't want to show that he should be a number 1 on a rebuilding team on its way up, not sure he ever will want to be a one? Thats strictly up to Shaedon Sharpe as to if the team wants to build around him.
Right. And at that point he was also among the leaders in scoring.Correct, once someone is ready to take the next leap, they will naturally supplant others. That's common sense.
This isn't a scenario where Sharpe is sitting on the bench and not getting minutes. At one point last year he was leading the league in minutes played.
Darius Miles as well. There was also another guy who is escaping me...Lebron James played 79 games and 39.5 minutes a game his rookie season. Ricky Davis was traded after 22 games in Cleveland and was never any real issue. Or maybe LeBron would have left the cavs earlier. Or maybe he would have gotten into trouble trying to deal with the stress. Or maybe he would have eaten himself into a Zion form...Damn if only the Cavs would have kept Ricky Davis..... LBJ would still probably be a Robin to someone's Batman.

The point is, nobody else has the same ability as LeBron. But it was a big enough problem even for LeBron that the franchise had to move guys to clear his runway. And his Coach noticed the difference enough to talk about it when interviewed about LeBron's first two seasons.
