For the sake of argument, let's say that the Lakers realize that they're not getting Dame from Portland, but inquire about CJ. What would it take from the Lakers side for a CJ-to-LA deal to make sense from Portland's perspective?

They wont take on salary dumps, because they want room for Kawhi or Thompson for next year. Can Thompson play SF?
LBJ/CJ/Thompson?

Anyhow, I would go with Ingram/Kuzma straight up.

Or Ingram/2 future firsts and a 2nd( the 2nd because those future firsts wont be worth much)

Stephen A on Dame: "His preference is to stay in Portland, but if they cannot improve their team, he wants to go to NY or LA."

lol now we know for sure all this is bullshit since Stephen A said it.

Also, WTF is he going to go to NY for? They're further away from us.

Problem is, Deng would need to be included in order to match salary, and then it's no longer desirable for us.

What about something like this? Asking too much?

What a bunch of BS. Screamin A is making shit up.

Yeah, Dame wants to go to New York (rolleyes).

No, Mr. Cheesy Puffs, YOU want Dame to go to New York.

yeah I guess technically dame could have told someone that, but it sounds too convenient to me that he chose the two media markets to pretend he knows something. Right now the media is jumping on the "LBJ chose LA for his post basketball business ventures" angle. So of course Stephen A is thinking "Dame.....music.........hmm New York or LA makes sense.

Did you believe LMA when he talked about wanting to be the greatest Blazer ever?

Maybe Dame is the only player in the NBA who isn't a mercenary...or maybe he is just better than most at PR.

Completely different animal. Dame was raised right.

All it takes is Neil saying that Dame is untouchable, which he motherfucking should be.
Think it's understood. 3yrs left on the deal and the team holds all the cards.

This noise is prolly coming from LA. Or Dame's camp to further add pressure on Neil to actually do his job.

But this is just a horrible management of the narrative, and par for the course with Neil. I can't wait til we fire his ass.

I agree, while at the same time , Damian can also come out and profess loyalty instead of things like, I'm generally a happy camper that only help to fuel the fire.

I can't believe Olshey is/will probably be the only gm this team has had since Dame was here. Why wouldn't you want to go in a different direction when you have a player of that level before his contract expires? What they're doing now is clearly not working, and hasn't for several years now.

Stotts his only coach as well.

SAS said he wants to stay in Portland.

However, if Neil fails to provide him with another star/help -- Dame will force a trade.

Be realistic man, you are selfish if you want Dame to flounder on a .500 team in Portland during his prime years when he has a once in a lifetime chance to win championships with LeBron... if you really care for Dame you would want the best for him... Neil wouldn’t trade him without his approval anyways... and if that deal happened it would be a pretty good haul of young players for the Blazers from LA, setting up a nice future with a core of Zach, Simons, Ball, Kuzma or Ingram and multiple 1st
<facepalm>
