Should Neil be on the hot seat?

This thing is so fucked

Olshey won't be here in 2 years. He's too good for this job and there's no reason to put up with this bullshit when you don't have to.

This thing is going to get even worse.

A lot of people thought the Bulls would tank after salary dumping Luol Deng. Instead, they went ahead and won at a significantly better pace. Deng and LMA have one important thing in common - they take a lot of the worst shots in basketball. That is, 2 pointers not in the paint.

The team may actually do just as well, if not better, with Ed Davis scoring buckets in the paint at a high % and the freeing up shots for 3pt shooters or others who hit a high % from 2.

Except our best 3 point shooter now plays for the Mavs

This is exactly what the fuck I've been saying for the last 2 years!!!!!!!! And Mags likes it.

Hey I remember criticizing Stotts gameplan of having LA continue to shoot long 2 point jumpers. I remember talking about his shooting % being terrible etc. I also recall everyone thinking I was a moron cause he was scoring more than ever. We would have never won anything with LA as the offensive focal point shooting jumpers but what is worse is letting him leave for nothing.

No people thought you were a moron for wanting Conley instead of Dame.

Still do Conley plays defense and doesn't force up 5 terrible shots per game like Dame. Hopefully I am wrong and Lillard bounces back and becomes a vocal leader on this team.

Olshey had a contingency for every FA on our roster like LaMarcus wanted to be the best Blazer ever. This whole thing was a farce. They just didn't want to come out and say it. We didn't pursue Wes or Rolo. They knew it was full rebuild time.

Just watch bro. Dame will be a solid leader. We are in good hands

Yah Olshey flat out lied to everyone I am sorry but ESPN is not going to report LA is 99% sure he is leaving and then update it with an additional conformation if it was not true. LA was never going to stay and Olshey knew it.

I hope so I do like Lillard but I also think he has gotten way too Hollywood and it has hurt his game. If he spent as much time in the gym working on his defense as he has working on his brand, pimping new shoes and selling insurance, we would be in great hands. This year will be the test with an average at best team around him will we Lillard take the reigns and dominate or will he become complacent, embrace the low expectations and sell more products?

Don't you think that maybe he was effected by Aldridge's ego? Did you read the quick article?

Honestly I don't think Dame cared about LA's ego that much he knew the team was better with him on it so he tried to placate LA in public but it certainly did not stop him from signing a massive Adidas deal or stop him from doing all state commercials

Christ on a crutch... Olshey is the best GM we've had in a long time. We get to see him really work the next few years because we have so much flexibility. I really think if had full control he would've traded Peter Pettigrew in 2013 but I bet Paul didn't want to lose him.

We have a ton of talent and cap space, let's wait till we can start trading again before you put him on the hot seat.

Cap space means dick if you can't spend it. You know what would look good right now a rebuilding team with Wiggins and Lillard as the two main pieces or a rebuilding team with jimmy butler and Lillard.

Can space isn't just for free agents. We can bring in a big contract or two...

It seems obvious that Neil knew that LA was gone going into this offseason. I don't think Batum gets traded for young guys if it wasn't the case. I think he knew and I think he has been working to add young pieces and start the rebuild.
Wow, Nate, I think just the opposite. LMA tweeted about not wanting to play with players who didn't play hard. A couple of weeks later Batum gets traded. I think they traded Batum in an effort to keep Aldridge.

These boards are interesting.

There are those who have always thought they were smarter than Olshey, and now their bashing hard. It's almost as if they are happy so they can say "Ha. I was right, look at how smart I am."

Ditto for those that hate Aldridge.

Truth of matter is LaMarcus wanted out of Portland for a while and #Blazers knew it, no matter how they tried to spin it. It was inevitable.>>>>>>

Neil 'John Nash' Olshey.

Now we have tons of cap space and a bevy of tradeable assets. The next couple years is going to be interesting. As much as I liked the guys we let go (even though Aldridge is kind of a bitch) I'm not as sad, because that team was constructed to make the playoffs and not make much noise for the foreseeable future.

I actually think letting go of Stotts and getting a guy like Thibodoux to nurture some of this talent might be a brilliant move. As much as people might roll their eyes, I think getting Vonleh, Aminu, Davis and Plumlee along with Connaughton were steps in the right direction. Davis and Aminu could become top of the line roll players, Vonleh could have star potential. Plumlee and Connaughton are nice looking young prospects.

That's Zag-Tastic! Good post

Only issue with Thibs is that he sticks to the more veteran players. Idk what he'd do in a situation like ours.

Not really. He gave Butler and Snell plenty of burn as really young players. Mrotic was darkhorse for ROY. He even threw Etwan Moore in the mix. McDermott was hurt a lot of the year, needs to improve on D and couldn't adjust in the minutes he played.

Jimmy Butler only played 8.5mpg his first season and 26mpg his second, not huge minutes exactly. Snell was 16mpg his first year and 19.6mpg his second. Moore only played 9 mpg, I don't think of Mirotic as a rookie but even he only got 20mpg. Thibs relies a ton on his older players... Pau played 34 a night, Dunleavy played 29,hell even Aaron Brooks played 23...

Well when your older players are your best players that tends to happen. In this instance he would play his best players with the most promise. Those would be younger players.

I just don't know... I could see a Thibs rotation be this (with the current roster) :

Dame (38) / CJ (10)
Hendo (34) / CJ (14)
Aminu (38) / Connaughton (10)
Davis (30) / Nards (18)
Kaman (28) / Plums (20)
