Someone please name the "Elite" coach that the Blazers are going to be able to sign if they fire Terry.
Who cares? Six years is long enough to build a championship team. If Stotts can’t do it, let’s try to get someone who can. If that guy doesn’t work out, big deal. It wasn’t working out with Stotts, anyway.

And yes Stotts should be fired, he is a solid Development Coach, but that's it. Terrible ingame Adjustments and Bad rotations, and has no authority, Blazers also dead last in Assists per Game

I don't think he was handed much talent to be honest and got us to the #3 seed in the tough West. Props to him for this season. Name a better replacement.
Agree, but if Jimmy Butler had been healthy all season I'm sure the Timberwolves would have home court and that would have changed everything.

Nah. I think he fucked up at the end of game 1, but that doesn't erase what he's accomplished the last several years - consistently getting to the playoffs even with an almost complete roster overhaul. Creating a thread like this after just one game in which the players couldn't hit shots they normally do seems a tad premature.

Terry has a lot of good qualities and is a great guy.

If the goal is to make it to the playoffs & get eliminated in the 1 or 2 round, Terry is your guy. He's a "Good" coach.

He's not one who will ever win a championship though. He lets his players play too undisciplined to be an "Elite" level coach.
There are 26 teams that won't make it past the 2nd. round. Maybe 26 teams should fire their coach every year.

I like Stotts here....don't want to see him fired.....nobody in the league has predicted how much he's accomplished the last 2 seasons with really one star and a lot of role players....Evan Turner jumped the gun twice on the inbounds pass and by then....it was too late.....we lost game one by 2 frickin' points...it's not like we were blown out...if he wins the next 4 in a row I hope somebody bakes a crow pie for the thread. Firing coaches is a real Sacramento Kings move...

Yes.

Insanity Is Doing the Same Thing Over and Over Again and Expecting Different Results.
like making the playoffs? I don't think it's insane to make them over and over....the Spurs have and they don't always win out either.

Making the playoffs and getting knocked out by supremely better teams every year is horrible. It's honestly worse than being at the bottom and at least getting a shot at a generational talent.

The Spurs had arguably the best power forward of all time.... and now they don't.... and how far have they gotten? They're in the same damn boat that we're in.

A. The Blazers are going to win this series so this whole thread is moot.

B. Someone please name the "Elite" coach that the Blazers are going to be able to sign if they fire Terry.

Exactly this. Show me a better option and I might consider it.

We have the youngest team in the playoffs and we're a 3 seed... We have time.

Change for the sake of change is not good. Running through coaches every 5 years doesn't win you championships any more often than sticking with the guy you have.

Stotts has built an awesome culture here and is probably in the top 5 for coach of the year. His team made huge defensive strides this season.

This team gets as many or more open looks as anyone. They just need to hit those shots.

By the time that happened, PJ had already been an NBA head coach for 3 years, so I'm hesitant to blame that on inexperience. Seems to me that was more a result of his personality and coaching style.

Either way, I don't think we should let that prevent us from pursuing a guy who appears to be one of the best coaches out there. We're not the destination franchise that can wait for a guy to prove himself elsewhere and then poach him. We have to identify someone who's ready to elevate both himself and our franchise, and take a big swing.
Honestly, I'm not sure why Paul Allen doesn't make us a destination... Just figure out who the best coach is and pay whatever it takes to get him. $15 mil per year? Why not...

They're in the same damn boat that we're in.
no....they are old...we are the youngest roster in the league....they won with Duncan on the bench many, many times....the boat they're in that we're in is coaching stability which I like in a franchise....revolving door coaches doesn't seem to have a great impact on the bottom feeders...we're not a bottom feeder...we lost game one by 2 pts......Duncan has been knocked out of the playoffs....many great players have..it's not a given to dominate maybe the deepest western conference in history.

I almost predicted this response word for word. lol.

Yeah, pretty much every good coach wins a title in under 6 years... That's why there's been 11 championship coaches since 1987. How tough could it be?

I guess most coaches are just well paid bums...

He has a chance to be the next coach K.

I wonder how much he likes recruiting though.

Today's top programs have many others involved in recruiting and other aspects that it becom

6 years? Yes he's been coach here for 6 years but the first year he was given a team in disarray and then 2 years later lost 4 out of 5 starters. At this stage, there is no indication the players aren't listening to him and not playing hard. Maybe we should recycle Hubie Brown, Mike Fratello or maybe we can bring back Kaleb Kanales.

we knocked the Clippers and Rockets out of the playoffs under Stotts......I think you may exaggerate this supremely better tag you used....and we swept the Thunder and beat GS twice in February......we lose a game and you think we're the Magic?

We're worse than the Magic or Kings. We're a treadmill team. We knocked out the Clippers after they lost Chris Paul and Blake Griffin... and it wasn't an easy out either. We knocked the Rockets out when we had a much better roster, and it still went six games. But Stotts has been here for six years man. What do we have to show for it?

nonsense...complete..utter nonsense....would love to see you tell this to any member of the coaching staff an roster and hear the response

The Sixers openly tanked, they drafted Embiid, Simmons, Fultz, and Saric. They're set. They have not one, but quite possibly three generational talents in Embiid, Simmons, and Fultz. Their future is infinitely more bright than ours.
