Should Stotts be fired if we lose the series?

Steph Curry REALLY liked bible-quoting Mark Jackson too.

Then he won two consecutive MVPs.
I was under the impression that Curry was the reason they let Jackson go.

It boggles my mind that some people here are ready to leap to firing the coach and blowing up the team after one playoff game
IT'S. NOT. BECAUSE. OF. ONE. GAME.
It's a culmination of 6 years of - at best - average coaching. It's not knowing his personnel. It's not knowing how to manage a game. It's not knowing how to adjust on the fly. It's a pattern of not having his team ready. It's the lack of easy, efficient shots. It's the lack of accountability. It's the inability to capitalize on continuity. It's seeing the same mistakes made repeatedly. It's the cognitive dissonance of his competing offensive and defensive philosophies (LA-era).

Do you think a different coach could have done MORE with this roster? Please don't reply with, "I don't know, we'll have to see". We have 2 stars, a decent center and a roster full of roll players and we got the third seed in the West. I'm pretty with happy with how he did this season.
You of all people know that using our seeding to measure our success is stupid - our seed has just as much to do with all the other teams, as it does with us. And add to the fact that there was very little separation between 3 and 9, and 3 means even less - a few missed jumpers over the course of the season and we'd be in the lottery.
Now, our record? That's a better measure - still influenced by outside sources, but much better. What's telling here is that Tater Totts neither exceeded nor fell short of expectations, as measured by the people in here (the ones that REALLY know the team...not idiot national media). According to the predictions game, we collectively predicted 48.52 wins. It took a 13 game winning streak in order for us to hit the mark nearly exactly.
I stick with my opinion that Terry is a Net Zero coach.

Pop just lost 2 opening games....so they should fire him? Spurs lost badly....Blazers lost by 2 pts

1 - Were the Spurs favored in the series?
2 - Did they have home court advantage?
3 - Have they now lost home court advantage?

If the answer to any of these questions is Yes, then he should be fired if their team loses the series.

disagree with this take across the board...Pops had Lamarcus in the doghouse for a year....now Kawhi is divorced from the team....people saying what would Pops do at this point I can't understand....Stotts is running a stable team...Pops seems to be mired in dysfunction

This is some twilight zone shit.

Why does Pop's no good horrible very bad season this year negate his obviously amazing track record for game management, roster management, and momentum management?

coaching burn out would be my guess....happened to George Karl and Rick Adelman at the end of their careers as well....Stotts is just not temperamental....I think Stan Van Gundy is burning out as well....changing of the guard in coaching

Popovich has never been a particularly good coach in my opinion. I've never liked him since he fired Bob Hill in 97 and finished his tank job to get Tim Duncan. He's never won anything without Duncan.

He won 61 last year. And 47 this year with his top 5 player MIA. That's pretty damn good.

Popovich? He will never be fired. He will retire this year or the next. Many would probably say that the Spurs were favored in the GSW series, but that is probably a conclusion that was jumped too. Spurs are not that good without Kawhi, If they had him, they would probably be favored. Without him and without Curry the odds are probably a bit closer, but GSW was # 2 for a reason, and yeah they limped into the playoffs, but now that it is postseason, they are back in form. GSW will beat SAS, and should the Blazers win, it will not be an easy task to defeat them. Too, Curry is hedging for a 2nd round come back. So GSW will be a near full strength.

We can't fire Terry unless we have a better coach lined up which I highly doubt lol

How many coaches can take:

Dame / Napier
CJ / Pat
Harkless / Turner
Aminu / Collins
Nurk / Davis

To 49 wins? Yeah, we have one phenomenal player, two 3rd tier stars, and a couple upper level role players... that’s not enough in the western conference usually.

Those two extra home games where we struggle are that important to you?

More important than watching us take for half a decade and still have it be a crap shoot to nail a generational talent?
To consistently be a better than average team?
To be watching my team play instead of wishing it was my team playing?

Hell yeah its important.

Maybe Dame is just that good? I always thought that Roy carried the fuck out of McMillan. Made him look smarter than he was.

Dame went super saiyan this season, good enough to maybe be first team All-NBA, but without Dame this team is super average.
