Should teachers be allowed to carry handguns?

School shooting rates as a country are extremely low. How can handing out dozens of weapons in every school help anything? If anything more shootings would happen as the result of teachers having weapons (A kid stealing one..etc..)...Teachers come to school to teach, giving them gun safety and permits would be an overreaction and a new low in this country. Wal*Mart doesn't give it's employee's handguns if a few Wal*Mart's throughout the country are held up...etc...

In no way would this help. To add to BCB's comments, I'd like to point out that in no way are teachers fit to carry guns in self protection. If I remember correctly, most of my teachers in high school were men and women that were on the older side of life that werent exactly big by any means. This is of course excluding coaches. I dont think the teachers would want this either. Also, lets take this scenerio, a kid comes to school and starts shooting and a teacher kills him or her. How do you think the teacher is going to feel about this after this is over?? They are going to be in such a state of shock after having to shoot one of the kids that she has taught. I say they just need to put more school cops on duty. This leaves it to professionals at least.

First of all, there are very few school shootings. Then, if a school shooting occurred I bet it would results in more deaths if they starting shooting at each other and either somebody gets caught in the crossfire or they start shooting civilians. Knowing the world today you would hear stories about either teachers shooting students or students taking the gun and doing something.

originally I thought it might be a good idea for teachers to have guns, than I got to thinking of the teachers I had in school, than I got realy nervous. there are a lot of teachers who are bafoons, and would most likely end up causing more school shootings then they prevent. I've had many of teachers who had hair triggers, and some got violent with students. do these people really need to have guns? I'd think not.We've been seeing the decay in teachers for years now, you got teachers assulting students, molesting them, and just not caring enough about their students. The best way to prevent school shootings is to stop bullying, try to keep things as fair and honest as possible, and just give kids a clue.maybe shooting all those weird ass fags called elmos or emus or something like that--ok thats a joke.
