I was just listening to yesterdays Talking Ball, and they were saying that the rumor currently is that Melo is more interested in the money than in the city since he would likley be missing out on 20mil or more by not doing the extension. So teams like HOuston and Dallas are now making offers and not even caring about if Melo has his extension already in place. So, should the Blazers also be putting together offers to try and get Melo just hoping that the 20mil will be enough to get Melo to stay a blazer in the future.
The trade I came up with is this
Denver Trade:
Carmelo Anthony
Billups
Blazers Trade:
Batum
Camby
Miller
Oden
2 2011 first round picks
1 2013 first round pick
Works on trade machine
Denver gets Batum who they covet. They save a shit ton of money by getting rid of the long contracts of Billups and Melo in exchange for Miller and Camby, who can still help them be competitive this season. They can either save more money with Oden or take a chance and match any offers in the offseason if they want HIGH risk HIGH reward. THey get 3 first rounders. Everything Denver has been asking for, savings, young talent, and picks, they get.
The Blazers get Melo and Billups who still has a little gas in his tank.
