But seriously, I didn’t notice much of a difference offensively (I don’t think we need to talk about defense. CJ is objectively Portland’s worst defender) Guys were getting good looks, the only difference is they started making them in the second half. And the Pacers are a solid defensive team.

I wonder how much better we’d look if Turner got launched into the sun. If he’s still around next year, he better not be in the rotation.

It sucks that we don’t have anyone better to run the second unit. Curry is a shooting guard in a point guards body. That should be a priority this offseason. Find a playmaker. Guys like Teodosic and Rondo for example.
 
We started off poorly in the first quarter. Jake is not the answer at SG. So yes we looked worse offensively and defensively early on.

Our offense did not suffer because Dame took over when we were down by double digits. And Aminu got hot in the 3rd quarter. Can we rely on that to happen again?

Start Hood and hope Seth, Jake and Enes play well of the bench. Losing CJ will effect the bench more than the starting unit.

did you know that Evan Turner will make more money from his Portland contract than Clyde Drexler and Terry Porter made in their entire careers?

Not sure if it is true or not, but the LA media (and fans) claim Rondo has lost a step this year and is not the same player. But haven't we heard that before?
Personally I just don't think he fits well with LBJ. I would take a chance on him next year, but would he fits well in a Stott's system?

There was a stretch in the 4th quarter that was horrible offensively. We definitely missed CJ during that time.
 
Definitely not a pretty game last night, but at this time of the season wins are important and we got the win. Thankfully we had a superstar performance from Lillard to carry us but we will need to be better moving forward.

well, he did come into the season averaging 24% on three's. Small sample size, but still, it was an indicator. He only shot 36% from the college 3 point line and that was on 547 attempts so there was no sample size issue. It's possible he won't be a good 3 point shooter.
 
I think the addition of Hood and especially Enes really had him struggling to adjust. He needs the paint to be open and the ball to be swinging around for him to find his groove.

Trying to extrapolate anything from an extremely small sample size of inconsistent garbage time would be a foolish way to come to any conclusion though.

I don't hate the guy but his poor decisions/execution on passes is amazing to watch sometimes. The only time he seems to complete a pass is if his teammate makes a circus-like one-handed catch that requires elite athleticism.

I went back and paused that inbounds "pass" with about half a minute left last night. I have no idea what he saw. He's got Curry open on his right, he's got Dame open on his left, and instead he lobs it to a guy with three defenders in position to knock it away. It's just not good enough and it's been going on far too long for him to continue to be rewarded with playing time.

The issue is that he is not getting them in the same kind of way he did before - he is a rhythm player - he needs the movement to get in the groove - and with the interior congested - he does not get it - so he basically becomes a 3pt spot shooter - and that's unfortunately, not his game.

He needs to adjust, but this is 100% the reason for his recent struggles.

Well if true, that’s a major weakness in his game at it will cost him a chance at a big contract this summer.

Well, I love Jake's game, but he certainly has flaws in his game - consistency is one of them and not being a standing catch and shoot player is one of them. The good news is he has lots of athletic gifts and seem to be willing to work on his game. I still hope we keep him long-term.

Oh you were serious? I thought you were being sarcastic. I didn't think anyone who watched the beginning of the 1st quarter and the end of the 4th quarter (times of the game CJ always plays) could possibly think that the defense and ball movement was an improvement.

I will say this, as much of a CJ fan as I am, I hope Terry starts Hood and the team plays exceptionally well in his absence. So well that Terry is forced to bring CJ off the bench in the playoffs in order not to disrupt things. I would love to see CJ evolve into our 6th man, much like Jason Terry in his Dallas days. It is an extremely important role that every good team needs filled. Either way he will play in crunch time, but I would be curious to see how it works out for the Blazers.

Yeah but who actually has to live on a measly $75,000 a year? C'mon at least be a little reasonable in the accounting.
