1. Dame was asked about why he wanted to play in Miami. He could have said Bam or Spo or to get away from his divorce. He didn't, though. He gave one reason: His relationship with Jimmy Butler. Unless you're trying to go down the rabbit hole of debating the meaning of "is," that's about as close as you can get to a declaration. He gave one reason.
2. Jimmy Butler, not Bam, took to social media to tell the NBA to investigate the Bucks for tampering when the Dame trade happened. That's kind of unusual for being just another guy that was part of the equation.
3. Illmatic was the one that jumped on a pretty mundane post speculating that Dame might want to go to Golden State now and declared absolutely that it was widely known that Bam was the main reason Dame wanted to be with the Heat and the second reason was Dame's divorce and it "had little to do with Jimmy" (Ill's own words). So, Nate, was he correct? You yourself are admitting Butler was at least A reason, and Dame's quote suggests strongly Butler was a very big reason.
This is what happens when people want a narrative to be so true that they twist themselves into a pretzel. You're both arguing with Dame himself about what he wanted from his direct quote and you are arguing with the poster you're trying to defend that said he was off-base, posting that he said something he didn't say.
