It was being discussed on the radio yesterday that Marcus Camby has a reputation for not wanting to play against his former teams. Since joining our team, he has missed two games (not counting the LAC game for which neither he nor Blake were available). One was against Toronto--the team that drafted him--because he "sprained" his ankle the night before (limping off on the wrong foot?). The other was against Denver--the team for whom he played 6 seasons--because he "sprained" his ankle two days prior (in a freak practice accident). In both instances, he was able to start two days later.

So, has anyone ever heard this allegation in regard to Camby before? Is it just coincidence that those happened to be the games he missed? If this is true, would it impact the way you view him? If this is the case (ie, his "injuries" were faked), would it mean that we are actually better off (new center not really injury prone).

Well if it is true, at least he will never play us again if he doesn't resign with us!

so his excuse vs the Clippers will be he drank maxie pees kool aid?

Dunno about that. Supposedly, he never minded playing the Knicks, so maybe he won't mind playing the Clipps either.

They were talking about this on primetime last week. They had a "source" that claims Camby doesn't like playing against his old teams. I haven't seen any facts to back that up (except since he's been with us), but it's an interesting thought. God forbid we play Denver in the playoffs!

It's a pretty good strategy. Get traded a lot and then sit out games against your old teams. Eventually, you'll just get paid for practicing.

I can take it. For an insult to do harm, you have to give a shit about the person attacking.

I am sure you can - I just find it interesting how some people get a free pass...

I don't know, is there a lack of consistency? Generally, snide reworkings of other's user names hasn't been counted as personal attacks (unless the reworked is, itself, a personal attack). MIXUM is often called "MIXED UP"...and that isn't edited/deleted either.

I think "maxie pee" is juvenile, but am unsure it falls into the province of a personal attack.

Yep a purely sound strategy!:ghoti:

Mixed Up is a reference to his lack of basketball analysis acumen. It's on topic...

This just seems rather too low-brow for me, but if Maxie does not mind, who am I to say. It just seems very "directed" from a guy who is not supposed to be trollish (not that we discriminate against large clumps of clay) and is supposed to be all about the basketball...

A troll is someone that posts stuff to cause commotions and anger. Seems on par for the course, imho.

I haven't heard about him not wanting to play against former teams, but I have heard that he doesn't like to play with pain.

Another local radio theory.

Nice spin, but I'm not buying it. There's no sense in coddling him or pretend it wasn't an attack. They dislike each other so it seems to be pretty obvious.

I'm not saying it wasn't hostile, I'm saying that I don't think it rises to the level of the types of personal attacks that we edit. What exactly does "maxie pee" mean, if you're quite certain it's a rules violation? That maxiep is...pee? That he pees? That he likes pee?

It's a juvenile distortion of his name, but I don't see some particularly cutting attack there. I don't particularly like or dislike MIXUM, so I don't think I'm coddling him or favouring him.

That he's related to k pee?

I heard it's tough for him to play with a vagina. Unsubstantiated, but that's what I heard.

I, on the other hand, have no problem playing with a V.

Ok, I thought you were saying you weren't sure if it was a dig or not. My bad.

Random stat. If you count the games he has played more than 5 minutes he is averaging 3 blocks per game. But if you count the injury games, only 2.1 per game. 8.7 rebounds for the games more than 5 min and 6.1 with injury games

That's a very handy bit of knowledge, Minstruel Cycle. :smiley-thankyou:

As for the theory, it's interesting. If he gets hurt again this Friday/Saturday before the Toronto game, then that would seem like more than a coincidence.

So, does this theory only relate to Camby's tendencies since becoming a Blazer? As a Clipper he played in all of their games this season against Toronto, NY, and the Nuggets.

The radio boys aren't too deep in their thought processes sometimes.
