Simmons Bonanza

Hart Bledsoe and the 13th pick for Simmons. Do you think the Nets go for that? I mean obviously, I'm in love with this idea. Not trading any core piece for Simmons, nor the draft pick (ours before your trade) um YES PLEASE?! I'm down on Simmons, but not THAT down.
I'd definitely do that if our pick lands at 6-8 and the Hornets will give us 13 and 15 for it. I would do the Simmons trade you are proposing and I would trade the 15th for Grant. I think the Nets would have to think about getting Hart, the 13th pick and cap relief after next season for Simmons... especially if they like the guy at 13.

Dame, Ant, Grant, Simmons and Nurk would be a really interesting starting lineup and could be a contender. Nas, Justise, the 36th pick and someone we pick up with the TPMLE could be a pretty nice bench for a nine man rotation and Keon, Greg, Trendon, Didi, the 57th pick and a vet min guy could fight it out for another spot in a larger rotation or spot minutes.

He's having back surgery. Very plausible that he'll never be the same.
Possible but not plausible which connotes it being likely that one arguing that he'll never be the same is right.

BroLo just had the surgery and looks the same if not better than he did before and he's way older than Simmons. Rudy Fernandez looked the same after he had this procedure done. He was never that good but he was just as agile and bouncy afterward as he was before.

The prognosis is that Simmons will be ready for training camp. I think his mental health is a bigger concern than his back and I'm not too concerned that his mental health will cost him many more games either.

Just trying to get an all nba player on the team at little cost. That's all. If you think the guy will never play again or will never play close to the level he's already played for almost four full seasons... what are you smoking?
You must be one of the few still singing the Simmons song, when are you and others going to admit Simmons is not someone to have on your team.

He just stayed out a whole season, then said back injury and mental health as reasons he didn't play. Then was going to play in the playoffs but then last min pulled out and said his mental health was triggering his back injury again...like what?

This is already someone that is scared of big moments, hasn't improved his weakness since getting to the NBA...etc etc.

Simmons is someone you want to KEEP off your team at all costs!

Also, giving up Hart, who is someone you need on your team as a high energy guy, gives it his 100% all the time, AND a 13th pick that we don't know will turn into to, as nothing?

Simmons is also having back surgery, we don't know how that may impact his game going forward.

Really and truly, I don't know anyone that still wants Simmons on their team in any fan base...but we still got a few "sharps" in here still talking about getting Simmons, smh

Will still be a 26 year old all nba player when next season starts. Still one of the highest BBIQ guys in the league on both ends of the floor. Still gigantic and if the other half dozen guys that had this procedure done are any indication will still be an athletic beast in a month or two.

This isn't the kind of major surgery that Michael Porter Jr. is undergoing for the third time. It's something that has been very successful and when Rudy had it the team refused to call it a surgery and said it was a minor procedure... which was bullshit but tells you that it's not all that serious.

So yeah, I'm still saying that Ben Simmons will not only play well again but will make multiple all star teams going forward, probably make an all nba team again, will likely be DPOY at some point and if a team ever gets him to just try to shoot the ball, he'll have a great chance at being an MVP. Yep, I think it's worth risking Hart and the 13th pick for him.

If you really think that, then I think you need help lol. Saying that in a good way

Not to belabour the obvious, but why did Simmons wait till after the season to have surgery? His supposed goal was to get traded...so wouldn't it make sense to have the operation so he could be ready to play for the new team?

He has zero desire to play. Hasn’t for a long time. Obvious.

The back issue seemed to flare up more at the end of the season, and it seemed he and the team were hoping he'd be able to make it back to play for them. Even if he had the surgery the day he was traded, he'd basically be out for the season.

Ben is doing all this to force a trade to Portland to play with Dame. (Is green font necessary?)

It doesn't shock me that much that some posters still consider Ben. 'If' he can get back to where he was just a season ago before one Playoff series, he is a bigger talent at areas of need than Portland could get anywhere else for anywhere close to the price.
If he was uninjured, and back to being mentally strong, it would take way more than what we have to give.
With risk, comes possible rewards. But there is no guarantee, and that is what some fans seem to want. That is fine, but that type of guaranteed talent isn't available to the Blazers.

It just took him five seasons of playing his ass off and constantly being put as second fiddle to Joel, who isn't the most gracious of first chairs and then feeling like he was thrown under the bus (whether accurately or not) by Joel and Doc for him to throw that so called hissy fit or more accurately have a crisis of confidence that Joel and Doc handled like hard liners instead of finessing. I'm not taking all of the blame away from Simmons but he had help separating himself from his team and did so after being there for five fucking years.

So many people give zero weight to those five years and only weigh the last year (still hasn't been a full year since the beginning of the Hawks series). I think that it's really unwise to throw out a five year history and only look at the last year. It's called recency bias.

No, it's called selective reasoning on your part. The indications were already there prior to the past year, with Simmons being afraid to take 3-pointers. As soon as that trepidation spread to other spots on the floor, dude was cooked.

Lmao, I’m shocked at the few that still want Simmons.
People criticized Olshey for not taking risks. This is a risk that would drastically improve our team if it paid off. Look at Kawhi in 2018. He sat out most of the 17-18 season even though his teammates believed he could play. The Raptors took a risk and traded their best player for one year of Kawhi and ended up winning the 2019 title.

Ben Simmons is one of the most unique players in the league and would give us something most teams don't have. A 6-11 guy who can play the point and play the best man to man defense we've ever seen. All that is enough to not write him off completely. I'd still rather roll the dice on him than someone safer like Jerami Grant.

He plays the injured list best lately.

No freaking way do you do that, come on lmao

I would absolutely do that trade. Do you mean no way the NETS do it? Because that was my question to BlazerKor, I have a hard time believing they sell that low on him even with all the stuff swirling around him.
