Skip Bayless at it again: LaMarcus "still has too much Portland Trail Blazers in him"

Which is why nobody uses LaMarsha as an insult, yeah? Oh wait.

I think it's more due to the fact his name is La-something, and it has "Mar" in it.

Again, i don't think "soft" et al, means woman.

Hyuk hyuk hyuk... you know what I mean though. When you want to call a big man weak in a clever way, you give him a girly nickname. LaMarsha. Brenda Haywood.

But LaMarshmallow is just so long and cumbersome :sigh:

I don't read Canzano. And I don't watch Bayless..... I know shit when I see it.

Skip logic - Atlanta is out of the playoffs because Millsap always shrinks in big games. He once talked to the Portland GM and signed an offer sheet to play there. That little bit of Portland is still inside of his head making him a worse player.

Winning 40 something games and getting that kumbaya moment is what Blazer fans want. Congrats, we are stuck in purgatory because no FA worth a damn will sign here. Stars win in the NBA, and Portland has 1 1/2 of them

Call it the power of positive thinking but you're gonna eat those words.

(I still am curious about the instruction manual that men supposedly get, however.)

He means the bible. Now whether or not he's referring to the bible's rape manual, I'm not sure:

Deuteronomy 22:28-29 (KJV)

28 If a man find a damsel that is a virgin, which is not betrothed, and lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found;

29 Then the man that lay with her shall give unto the damsel's father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife; because he hath humbled her, he may not put her away all his days.

That's such bull, but I see you guys are gonna stick with it so whatever.

A lot of teams are like that though. OKC hears it. I know radio guys here talk about the Rockets as a have not franchise since Hakeem left. The difference to me is the bully effect. National guys say stuff about a lot of franchises, but Portlanders are so God damned sensitive about their team that it gets to them, so the writers and commentators keep doing it

It's not ok to be ok in the NBA. You are either good, bad or in purgatory. Portland FINALLY got bad enough to get Aldridge, Roy and Oden, and it may have worked had our GM not ignored medicals. The we got bad enough again to get Lillard, the 11th pick and McCollum. Had we done better with that 11th pick we may be further along

You are a ray of sunshine. The way a person looks at things has an effect on their well-being, just an FYI.

As for the 'purgatory' in which you think we are lost, I see it as a necessary step to the next level. No big free agents will come here? Why not? Barkley wanted to come here Drexler era, and with a quality leader in Dame and a great organization it is pretty attractive. A 'big' free agent that would sign here will be the rare one that doesn't have shit for brains. All the better for us, and I will laugh my ass off at all the guys that have said 'Portland will never get a big free agent' when Durant or some other guy that has his priorities straight signs here. The Blazers have players developing too, a fact which negative fans seem to want to ignore. They think everything will stay the same and that what we have right now is what we're stuck with.

Lillard and McCollum are winners. They're going to win. They're going to bring players along with them, and they're going to win a championship. I guess it's every fan's choice to get on the whiny biatch train or get on board with the team.

I've never considered soft, weak, not mentally tough or a whiner as traits dedicated solely to women.

Definitely not solely, but women generally are physically weaker and less aggressive than men. Not sure how someone could argue with that..

Skip getting cut from ESPN due he has to much choke job on the net work they sending him to the minors. So Skip now your know better than LA your mad because your spurs didn't win so blame it on exblazer why they lost. Sorry Skip it a team game and bet you LA wasn't the only one missing shots in the 4th.

Who's whining?

Barkley wanted to be traded here. Never signed with us when he could have. No one has. You can grasp at whatever it is you are grasping at, I choose to look at history, and make an opinion from that. I could be wrong, and hope I am. History tells us big white American born centers probably aren't worth lottery picks. History tells us guys from Syracuse aren't winners in the NBA. History tells us high lottery picks are usually the best players. I hope Lebron and Durant both sign here and we win the next 10 championships in a row, but I choose to look at things more realistically. But hey, realistically this team probably should have missed the playoffs, so who knows? I'm expressing an opinion. I know it's not a popular one, but there is no reason to call a poster, or insinuate a poster is a whiney bitch because they choose to view things differently than you.

Well, in your time away I've looked a little bit into "history," and it's not good. I've mentioned it a couple of times, so apologies to everyone else reading this:

There is exactly ONE team who has won a championship since 1980 that didn't have one of the following characteristics:
1) In what is currently a top 15 media market.
2) Had LBJ or Tim Duncan on their team.

That one team was the Wade/Shaq Heat. So, yeah, we need to get a top 10 all time player on our team - so do half the team's in the league... Interestingly, this information has not turned me into a curmudgeon. However, it has turned me into a conspiracy theorist!

So, in response to your post:
History tells me we need to find a transcendent player and that nothing else really matters. It also tells me we won't be able to (Greg Oden was our chance). So, our only real hope is for the team to move to Seattle. Go PNW Blazers!

p.s. Seattle is 12th in media market size:

I hope so. It's never happened before though

If it doesn't happen soon then I have reservations about the long term health of this franchise. You can only sell the same cheap rebuild model so many times before it becones obvious it won't work.

Ive never bought in to media market. I think it coincides with where players want to be. The Clippers, Knicks and Nets show us it's not all about media. If we draft Durant over Oden, Jordan over Bowie, or call heads, we have multiple championships. Transcendent player is key. Portland has never landed one in FA. Hopefully we can trade for one

What the hell is a transcendent player??? Give me a f-cking break. Walton and Drexler were two of the greatest basketball players in league history. The league media/agenda keeps Portland small. The media chooses to underhype our players unless it's absolutely certain they are All Stars. There are columnists to this day who complain Walton got the 78 MVP. People like Bill Simmons who view us as a bunch of "soccer moms" are as much responsible to this over generalized garbage. But let's not help them paint ourselves as a bunch of small market doinks. As if Portlandia wasn't bad enough!

As a Ravens fan as well, I've basically grown immune to stuff like what Bayless said today. It is what it is. I wonder his reaction would be if the Spurs lose tomorrow.

Its literally been 40 plus years.

And we were great with both of them. Got 1 with the first pick and another through the draft also.
