I see him twice a year and honestly can't remember much about him off the top of my head other than him being a good defender and having a bunch of potential. I think he's also fairly athletic. Other than that... I don't know much. So uh, what's his deal?

Is he a fast break guy? Shoot first or pass first? Am I remembering his defensive ability accurately? Is he indeed athletic? Fast? One of those PGs that destroy us because we can't guard the super quick PGs? Is he clutch? A guy willing to take big shots? Something else?

Thanks.

Good scoring skills... Good vision of the court... Great first step... Very quick and intense... Very athletic... Active defender... Not very strong... Bad three-point shooter.

He does not have good court vision. Rather, he is below average for a PG

i dont like him, undersized, inconsistent, weak.... hoping he plays well tho.

I've honestly always thought of him as more of an SG, but with the speed and skills to make up for his smaller size. Fast, definitely, but doesn't really have the passing skills of a PG.

Fortunately that doesn't matter as long as we have Carter, who is probably now the best passer on the team.

If you post the Hoopshype scouting report at least link to it.

Claiming it as your own is some weak shit.

I doubt it happens since Thorn doesn't trade players at their peak value, but Harris is slobbered over by a lot of GM's.

I'd like to see Thorn rip off another team in a Harris trade.

He's fast and can get in the lane.
He needs to improve his jumper that's for sure.

I doubt Thorn will trade Harris.

He finally acquired a player his head coach will actually like!

Dude... !!!

It's uptown! He never puts caps nor quotes! LOL

I love Harris as a backcourt-mate to an offenseive initiator like Wade or Kobe.

This makes sense if Vince Carter plays at a high level.

I wish Harris was a better shooter, but other than that I really like him.

and for his highlights...why not throw in a nice mix..

My problem with Harris is I don't see him becoming nearly as good as people are expecting him to be. However, there are NBA GM's that also have, IMHO, over-inflated opinions of him. The Nets could get a lot for him.

hes a good player with alot of potential , he was also voted a team captain of the mavs among his teammates so were gettin a good character guy in return

Sounds like a Net!

One thing I'll be happy to see is a PG that drives to the rim. Been awhile since we had that.

Top-notch penetrator, very fast, decent defender, good size, lacks playmaking skills and shooting touch. Overall not a bad replacement for Kidd in his twilight years.

That's a good point. It seems like a nice situation. The Nets are not really under any pressure. They can take their time, see how he fits in and decide if they want him long-term.He hasn't played all that great up until now, so it's unlikely his value will go down.

Are you talking about me?

If so, that's pretty harsh man, although I guess that's understandable seeing how frustrating the team has become.

And oh yeah, I haven't looked at Hoopshype in months.

Edit:

Oops, I just checked Hoopshype and I realized you weren't talking about me, sorry ghoti

#11 in PPS, #18 in A/48, #20 in APG, so it seems he's more of a scoring point than distributing. I wonder if he could wind up being our SG of the future, especially if Marcus develops. I think a team of Marcus/Harris/Jefferson/Krstic/Boone would be nice.

the only bad thing I saw from Harris was last year when Balkman baptized him, but he is a more valuable player than Naldo will ever be.

Devin Harris = Tony Parker speed + Kidd's 3 pt. range + A.I.'s early athleticism

Yep, like I said earlier, his lack of passing isn't so big a deal with a player like Vince. To be a really effective combo though, Harris would need a jumpshot. But I'll take what we can get.

That doesn't sound too good...

I say we trade him to the clips for Brand. Clips like to invest in PGs, so a deal of harris + fillers in the summer for brand would be pretty sweet.

Harris, Stackhouse and either Boone/Sean(cry)/Swift for Brand!

Even without a great PG, a trio of Carter/Jefferson/Brand could compete with Boston's trio.

EDIT:

Looks like if we wait till next year, Harris + Swift can be traded to Brand. This year Harris is on rookie salary so it'd be too hard to match up.

DO IT THRON!

Harris has some potential, perhaps an allstar eqse potential but he would need to improve his shooting by a great deal.

The pluses:
Quick
Good slasher
Good defender(really pesky at times and his man defense is good)
As cpaw stated: he could be a valuable trade chip

The minuses:
Poor shooter
Has been injured this season

The in-between:
Average court-vision.

Harris is BYC next year. So Harris for Brand straight up might work...don't quote me on that, tho, I'm not 100% sure.

Oh, and would Harris's defense be comparable to Darrell's defense?

Darrel is more pesky so he annoys the ball-handler.
Harris can guard point guards and shooting guards. Not as "pesky" as Armstrong is though.

We need to also remember that Dallas runs a TON of isos these days and that surely lowered his assist numbers. Additionally the Mavs are one of the slowest teams in terms of pace and they really don't let Harris run the show all that often. Just felt like someone should defend the guy cause I think he has pretty good upside.
