I have a lot of faith and confidence in him; especially since he is now surrounded by better outside shooters. Just think about how terrible Kidd, Boki, Marcus Williams, Malik Allen, Krstic, and to a certain extent RJ were last year. They've all been replaced by better, morre consistent shooters. They are all going to flourish playing with Carter . . . I guess we'll see, though.</div>

shooters suddenly forget how to shoot after joining the nets...

I have no one in mind, but I think they are looking for a veteran mid-level center that has a decent mid-range jumper. They cannot go into the season with just the injury-prone Boone and the rookie Lopez at that position. They will be doomed.</div>
KVH, Sean and Hassell for Jeff Foster, Diener and a lottery protected pick would accomplish that, clears cap space in 2009 and adds a 3rd pg.

Wouldn't be surprised if Indy wants to retain Kareem Rush but need to shed some salary in order to stay under the luxury tax. I wonder if targeting teams free agents in order to get the team do trade with you is the new Kiki/Thorn plan? They talked about JR Smith and wanted to do a deal with Denver for Camby. Maybe I'm a conspiracy theorist.

It's certainly a possibility.

Here's the potential depth chart if we could swing this little deal with Indy and cut Swift and Ager.

PG: Harris, Dooling, Deiner
SG: Carter, Hayes, Carroll
SF: Simmons, CDR, Hodge
PF: Yi, Najera, Anderson
C: Boone, Lopez, Foster

Solid mix of vets and young guys and all are the "high character" and "hard workers" that they've been after. Average age would be 25.6 with no one over 32. Plus we'll be $12.5mm under the cap next year.

oh and to add... there are a lot of solid FA next year as well...

1)kobe - ETO (i kno seems unlikely but hey u never kno with kobe)

2)boozer - player option ( would be amazing )

3)marion - UFA ( for the rite price why not? )

4)nash - team option (unlikely)

5)okur - ETO (we dont really need him if Yi pans out...)

6)iverson - UFA ( ehhh no thanks )

7)artest - UFA ( i love this guy personally but doesnt fit the whole nets character )

8)odom - UFA ( hmm he was already the 3rd option in the lakers and he still disappeared in the finals
- he is so talented as well
9)hedo - ETO ( solid 3... and he has really become a #1 scorer )

10)bynum - restricted ( unlikely unless he wanted to play for his home town/state )

the top 10 list was from hoopsworld... i just added my own personal opinions... do go killing me now

My dream scenario-as outlined in the Josh Smith thread- would be to sign and trade for Smith now using expiring contracts and draft picks along with some Sean or Boone and then find a way to trade Carter to dump his contract either now or at the deadline. I say trade Carter only because with him and Smith we likely couldnt offer up enough for LBJ, and Smith's contract would likely be smaller than Carter's so it wouldnt affect our LeBron Fund. With Smith in the fold for the next two years we try to develop our young players led by Smith, Harris and Yi and hopefully have enough youth and potential to attract LeBron when he becomes a FA.
