I never posted much at bbf, but read the site every day for years, after I joined during the mass espn board exodus. But, the last few days..... I haven't been doing too much reading. Sure, I have been visiting the site, but tis hard to read when there is nothing written. So, alas, I did a little search and here I am as well.

Are crandc and maris here yet? They were always up there on my list.


Maybe I will post more frequently...........but....hmm......probably not.

IMO its definitely in a forums benefit to have us (albeit often just existing in our own little world...) than try to control, shape and manipulate us like some at BBF wanted to do

AND thank fuckin god i dont have to look at that horrible orange court background anymore

That's how I found this place. I google "s2 blazers forum" and here I am.

I seldom read the off subject forum and left that to other mods because I'm just interested in chatting about the Blazers so I had no clue what was going on until a lot of posters were gone.

I tried to figure out what was up and found a thread that mention there was a problem with a political thread and it being moved and so forth.

I also seen that some weren't to happy with us mods to say the least. I've always tried to be fair and go by the rules as best I can. I did see a couple posts by mods in the thread I mention that pissed me off and they weren't even directed at me. But hey, what do you expect from a Laker mod? :)

At any rate, I'm going to continue to moderate at the other site, which should be a lot easier now, as long as they keep me as a mod. But, hey, the gangs all here so I'd like to check in and post here too if I'm welcome to.

Btw, I've seen Barfo, is Nightfly here too?

I thought this rule was funny, considering they are using us a example! :)

5. Trash talk is allowed. It's one thing to call Portland's NBA team the "Jailblazers" and another to call their fans idiots. The former is allowed, the latter is not.

Or, they have permanent "guest" bots to inflate the number of hits on their board to get more money out of the advertisements.

They are not doing that. Advertisers would be able to figure that out.

They are search engine spider bots... indexing the posts. If you check the Nets and Bulls forum, they still have a high number of 'guests' due to the bots searching/indexing all the content.

Nightfly has been here for a long time, almost a year plus. He has been on a break of sorts.

either that or they have extended the 'currently viewing' timeframe. i think its originally based on activity in the last 5mins but they could easily adjust the collection time to like 1-2hrs of more so they have an inflated number of 'current' users. it's adjustable in phpbb at any rate :)

there is no way in fuck there are 13 members and 22 guests there right now, viewing the 3 new threads which were made in the last 24hrs.... faking it!

What happened at BBF was a bloody shame....and really quite pointless. It seems as if all the mods/admins got smeared by the acts of a few. No one has any reason to blame *you*, or to make you unwelcome.

By default, vbulletin is set to time out inactive members/guests in 15 minutes (900 seconds). I don't change ours to some other number under the assumption that every other site keeps theirs at the 900 second value and comparing our online to someone else's online is a "like" figure.

Well, I'd argue it being a shame or pointless. For whatever the reason, a large number of people felt the environment wasn't fun, so they switched to an environment they did find fun. Switching forums on the internet is free, easy and therefore, in my opinion, the best way to resolve the issue.

I think recriminations, at this point, are pointless. This forum serves a certain number of posters better (the rest just moved to keep the group together) and it's really not that important why. Both sides (BBF moderators and the users who fought with them) feel victimized. Both tried to do right as they saw it...and perceptions clashed.

As some of you remember we left another site to go to BBF back in 2002. I didn't post much the last couple of years. It didn't seem like our board anymore..........then I belatedly found out ABM had been banned, and being the follower that I am I searched you all out. I will lurk here now only posting when I have some nonsensical drivel to share.:crazy: I'm already up to three posts, should only take five or six years to get to 100.:waiting:

Your name has been mentioned a few times. I hope you post some of those homemade blazer videos and provide some links over here. I know you are still a mod over there, which is all good . . . but share with the Blazer masses.

Cool to see so many jump abaord. Can we break 100 members during a game thread . . . it would make a great game thread.
