So what's next for the roster

I want Perry Jones here bad; he fits the Neil targeting system. Give him starters minutes & dude will produce (showed some VERY nice glimpses when KD was out)! Also, I could b wrong of course but... I'm feelin' Neil targeted KJ early on; he felt RHJ (KJ's a VERY similar player) could b moved bc he was/is going after KJ!:twothumbs:

Dame/Frazier
Cj/Hendo/Project Pat
Aminu/Crabbe/ Hairy Spanish Dude
Eddie D/ NV
Nards/Plums/Kaman

That's already 13 guys.

Fuck it, roll with that.

I'd still like to fuck with the Thunder by offering a max deal to Kanter to fuck up the idea of Durant coming back by making that cheap ass owner pay top dollar to bring Kanter back. If he let Kanter come here, that would just show Durant he doesn't care about winning, and make him more likely to leave. Win-win.

As is, if kaman doesn't play at all, there are 24 mpg for each of the 4 bigs we already have.

Kanter is interesting, but meh.

Keep in mind Olshey said they'd be using CJ McCollum at backup PG during the post-draft interview. Perry Jones III may be a possibility, maybe KJ McDaniels.

Pat Connaughton is a 2, so hopefully he works out, if he can't get minutes yet, I hope he develops, great athlete, good motor and passion.

Outside McDaniels/Fornier/Barnes/Kanter -- these are players I'd offer up our pick next summer, minimally protected if any:

Steven Adams
Joel Embiid or Nerlens Noel
Harrison Barnes
Evan Fournier
KJ McDaniels
Enes Kanter
Jabari Parker

You would offer up our unprotected #1 for Steven Adams?

lol

We can just make an offer to Kanter to see if OKC matches it and we won't have to give up anything.

Obviously i'd have it top-5 protected.

There is a hhhhhuge dropoff in talent after that, maybe even after 3. This draft is weak.

Way to early to say that IMO. All it takes is 3-4 players to greatly improve in college, 2 more players who have not played college ball yet......3 more from Europe........ and all of a sudden you are 10 deep.

Yeah, and worst case scenario, we get a guy that will probably be second on the team in scoring to flip in a trade later.

Our pick next summer has already been traded though. You mean you'd want to try and get these guys next year? Harrison Barnes is a restricted FA, and GS will already have 73 million invested in 6 players. Maybe we can get Harrison Fucking Barnes afterall?

Hassan Whiteside will also be unrestricted

I think this team has 3 centers: Plumlee, Kaman, Davis. 2 PFs: Leonard and Aminu
0 SFs. 3 SGs: CJ,Connanghton, Henderson and 1 PG.

So we need another PG and two wings. Sergio, Gee, Green.
Crabbe should be 2-3 can play SF and DWright could play 3-4 Tim Frazier can play the pt and CJ is working at pt offseason

If you're feeling blue this article from Kevin Arnovitz might cheer you up.

Sums up nicely what I've been feeling ever since Wesley blew out his ankle. Sucks in the near term to see a somewhat promising team go up in smoke, but at least Olshey seems to have positioned the Blazers for maximum flexibility moving forward by not trying to cling to the past too tightly in the wake of Aldridge's departure.
That was a great read

Is there any comparison with the Utah Jazz roster last season to what we have now in terms of young players?

Because I think we'll be in the 30-40 win range. I don't think we'll be in the very bottom.

DWright is a free agent. Not sure if Olshey intends to re-sign him.

But yeah, Crabbe, Aminu and maybe even Pat can man the SF spot.

I look at the roster we have and think..somewhere we may have the next Whiteside or Draymond Green or Demarre Carroll...guys we didn't even really think of as great players not so long ago

Earliest pick we can trade is 2019. We could do pick swaps other years. We might have a shot at #1 this year with Simmons out there.

Adams and Barnes very likely will be paid max contracts next summer.

Yeah Pat played PF in college. Defensively he has trouble staying in front of opponents and may struggle against the quicker SG but he can be physical so he might be better at SF. Not against the big LeBron, Kawhi, Melo, Durant ones but against backup SF or medicore starters he'd probably be fine.

Crabbe and Henderson are fine at SF. Aminu is oversized for SF.

We could use another SF but more as a gamble to hope the player breaks out than to pencil into a specific role.

Heck, wait till Indy cuts Young and bring him aboard. Give the fans something to root for - an underdog with local ties.

Any thoughts on signing Aaron Brooks?

Rather target a younger player with more upside. Brooks would be good if we needed a vet to help win a couple games like last year when we signed Steve Blake. But he's not really of use this year. I don't think he'd be happy with DNP's. If we get a vet it needs to be a Kaman type that can play some but not play 5 games and be fine with it.

Idk but I believe with Pat's athleticism, he's fine at the 2 spot.
