Stay young, get sub 25yo guys roll it out as is. We will have a lotto pick next year a growing young team and $30+ mil in cap space with a better plan in place.
Ticket sales would plummet.
2016 draft thought to worst in years.

It won't plummet because we will make the playoffs. 25 years and younger still accounts for players just coming off their rookie deals. Monroe is a 25 year old player.

There are 11 players on the roster if you guarantee Crabbe and Frazier and you have to have 13. Who should we add? Perry Jones III is available (OKC has a 16 players on their roster) and Kendall Marshall and Wesley Johnson are FA's. All 3 of those players are a position of need at SF and PG. Jones is a multi-talented guy and Marshall is a bigger PG who can really pass and shoots way better than we all thought he would.
Marshall would be a good pick. he could run point when Dame is doubled. I like Johnson too. SF and SG.

I'm just scouring rosters looking for potential salary dumps, what do people think of Chase Budinger?

Athletic 27 y/o SF with range. Played injured all last season but is on the last year of a 5 million dollar contract. Fills a need at SF, gives us a young-ish vet shooter, and could probably be had for nothing. Maybe even get Minnesota to throw in a second round pick for taking the salary. He's got no spot in Minny's rotation.

Hell no to Budinger. And he's also from my neighborhood and everyone knows he's a dbag

LaMarcus and Horace Grant comparisons....not bad. Check out the hand size at 1:15.

They mentioned that he was a shredded 250 lbs at 18.

What is his ceiling wothout losing agility/quickness -- 270?

One thing this franchise will have to do is find out is whether Leonard wants to stay and partner with Lillard. He's a restricted free agent but the team deserves to know if he is committed for the long hall

he certainly fits the Oregon demographic of outdoors oriented family guy
edit blue collar attitudes help too

steve blake and channing frye are two players that we have spurned in the past.
Charles barkley is still pissed we never traded for him

I was a Budinger fan before the injuries. But once he got to Minnesota things did not work out. He just can't stay healthy. To be honest I did not watch him last season.

Not seeing the LMA comparison for Vonleh. LMA is much better with his back to the basket, (His turn around J is awesome) but from what I have seen of Vonleh, I think he is much better than LMA at the dribble drive. I think Vonleh could actually play some SF for us because he can attack the basket. LA's game is more of a back his man down game. Vonleh looks like he will potentially be better at facing the basket.

Yeah he was always a player I was interested in. I wouldn't be opposed to acquiring him but ideally we'd target a player a couple years younger. Ultimately it really depends on his locker room presence, work ethic and ability to get along with teammates. If Neil thinks he's good in those areas he'd be a nice addition. If he's finally healthy then there's a chance he breaks out like Demarre Carroll. If he's injured more playing time for our young guys.

Yeah I don't understand what are pause is on this...we could simply offer him more then Houston and it would be done. Olshey probably busy trying to sell Kaman for a babe

Houston can match any offer, but theres an odd quirk where they can't offer as much as another team can. So even if he wants to stay at any price and they will keep him at any price he has to sign with another team. Its the same as Jeremy Lin and Omar Asik contracts. I believe the most we can offer is around 4 years 40 million and it would be 10/10/10/10 on our cap but 5/5/15/15 if they match. More likely we do 3 yr 25mil so its 8/8/8 on our cap 5/5/15 if they match.

Kanter is a worthwhile gamble. Only 23 years old. Big men take longer than others to develop so he's still going to get better. There's no reason he can't develop into a decent defender. He's got size, he's got quick feet. It might just be a matter of want-to with him.

How much value do you think he can provide above a max contract? Even if he reaches his potential I don't see him being an allstar quality big. But he has the downside of being one of the worst contracts in the NBA.

Like I said before no team trades a lottery pick after a quarter of a season without there being a huge catch. It seems like the argument is "well its Charlotte, their mangmt sucks" well look at Trob the Kings were the worst of the worst and they seemed like they knew what they were doing dumping trob i think after like half a season.. AND HE WAS EVEN PICKED WAAAY HIGHER AT 4

Vonleh wont be here in 2 years mark my word. Im sure by Januaryish we'll see what the catch was and eventually dump him like we did with the other "potential steal we had in Trob"

Washington traded us a young power forward lottery pick after one season for a starter and it worked out great for us. Rasheed Wallace for Rod Strickland. Worked out good for them the first couple years as well.

If Portland makes a run at a RFA, we won't hear until the end of the moratorium. The earlier we agree to a deal with a RFA, the more time we give their current team time to match theoretically (and scramble to clear cap space, if necessary).

This is my theory as to why it's been quiet as well.

Is there something preventing them from negotiating now? I don't know of any rules that prevent us from agreeing to terms on an offer sheet. Maybe I just missed it.

No they can agree but it can't be signed until tomorrow night. Then the other team has 3 days to match I think. It just makes more sense to not leak it out.

OK thats what I thought. With that being the case I don't have a ton of hope that we miraculously are going to have offer sheets signed.

@Aheffy: Here is the list of teams that can offer Enes Kanter a $13M+ contract without making separate trades:

Trailblazers
76ers
Thunder

My only question is why hasn't kanter re-signed yet? You know philly isn't gonna go after him so it's pretty much Portland or bust on the open market.

The answer is probably that he hasn't gotten an offer he likes.
