So why don't we have some sort of a podcast?

Welcome to our community

Be a part of something great, join today!

Much like ESPN's NFL gametime's "C'mon man!" segment, we need to have a segment with Blazer Fanatic detailing 3-4 people that annoyed her recently, tagging each one with "Go get your shine box!"

All the recent podcasts I've done have been through Skype. For quality purposes, I have each member record themselves on their computer, then send the files to me via dropbox, where I take them and mix them in Audacity and host the file on my FTP for iTunes to find. The quality ends up really great when everyone has decent equipment.

Look up Let's All Really Geek Out on iTunes; that's the last podcast I did.

That's actually an awesome way of doing it. It would be kind of weird if there was a big gap in technology, though. Like one person having a nice mic and another using the laptop's built in mic.

The only problem I can think of when doing it like that is the slight delay would be irritating. Do you edit that out? That would be a pain if so.

Everything would sound the best if the hosts were in the same room, doing it together. The bulk of the show would be the two of them. Then, a delay here or there talking to a guest or special commentator would be minor enough to overlook. Hopefully the two hosts who take lead on this project will both live in PDX and not have a problem getting together once a week. Also gives them a chance to discuss an outline ahead of time and figure out if they both want to take opposite sides on a debate or something like that.

OK, who's gonna be the guy that calls in every week and has to give a fake name, because they've been banned from calling for always insisting on talking about shit from the off topic section?

This would be the best.

The HCP demands at least 30 min of air time or he doesn't make an appearance!

I generally have passed out mikes and mixers on loan to my co-hosts to help with that, and I'm good at EQing and getting the best possible sound out of less than great equipment.

As for the delays, I have a technique that gets rid of the delays automagically. Seriously, listen to the last episode (Geek Father's Day) of my podcast; that's three people in three separate parts of town (and Vancouver). Took me an hour to mix. It's actually crisper than recording in the same room, but you do have to know how to round robin and take turns so that you're not stumbling over each other.

The best way is recording in the same room (I've recorded several podcast episodes at the Hawthorne Hophouse; they're really friendly with us), but let's not make it a requirement.

I'm going to make my own podcast, where I just make funny voices when I pretend to be HCP, Kingspeed, and SPD.

hey bud, I listened to some of your stuff earlier today. while not my forte I admire the quality. And for the record, my uncle was a grand master chess player, Dad and Grandfather electrical engineers..I was not a nerd until I embraced it late in life

Thanks, man! I'm assuming you know which one of the hosts I am. :ghoti:

If we want to do audio only I set up an acct with Mixlr to stream and archive there is also an embedded player to put on here in a thread.

Awesome, I can't wait till you guys drop some Blazer knowledge!

Lets get a list of who wants to actually be involved. I will put it all together, I have all the equipment and could probably get a restaurant to host and provide some food and drinks during the broadcast. We can broadcast live but I think it would be best if the hosts were at the same location. I can set up a phone as well to take phone calls during the show.

Right now I have

Hoojacks
BFW

I said I would assist but honestly I don't think I would be a great choice. My Blazer/basketball knowledge is not on par with some of the better thinkers here, and I have no technical knowledge from a production standpoint. I was mostly in this thread because I listen to a lot of podcasts and so have some preferences as to how one should be laid out. I will help, but more of the coffee/beer guy would be my role in the end.

Dont forget Strenuus and HCP both want to participate. Also Kingspeed as a guest or road commentator.

For the two guests, I think we are looking for people with original thoughts, people who would be willing to put in a little homework getting ready for the show, and two different personalities, one a little goofy or jocular, the other an analytically number cruncher. That's my take.
