Totally greed on the David Lee thing. But.... I have to admit. If this team, as the roster currently sits, were somehow to work their way into the 7-8 spot, I root for it to happen. Sure, it'd suck to lose the pick (next year's draft is supposedly pretty darn weak), but it'd also mean that we have a solid young core that really grew and came together, and that a few players really blossomed. We'd still have plenty of room for growth. Oh shit..... I'm starting to go a little mags here.
 
I kind of like seeing us pick up second year players that were drafted in the top ten after they've sat on another team's bench for their rookie season. It's one clever way to adjust from not having a lot of first round picks. TRob and Vonleh..good examples

I'd definitely root for them making the playoffs if it means the young guys are doing it, and we haven't purchased that chance at mediocrity by signing vets for long deals. Joe Johnson for one year is a good idea, but David Lee for more than one not so much.
 
GS lost in the first round the year before and what was their record?

Its not the end of the world to have young athletics with potential. They can turn the corner much quicker than I think most are thinking.

David Lee is on an expiring deal, so there's that. If Portland did acquire Lee (they wouldn't have to give anything up, as Golden State would be happy just to free up the salary space), I wouldn't hate it. He's a decent player for one year and I think it's better for development for young players to play in competitive games rather than constant garbage time. Just have to balance that against the minutes Lee would take from the young guys.
 
Right now the only thing brewing is the coffee in the employee kitchen at Rose Center 1.
 
How are we going to fill out our roster? Just curious. There aren't many options left!

RFAs can start signing offer sheets Wednesday night. I suspect we'll see some activity then. Like the OP said, it's way too quiet. And I don't think it's a trade.

It doesn't matter. Neil could go out and get nothing but D-league call-ups and the rebuild would be right on track. The point this year is to get Meyers, Vonleh, McCollum, Plumlee, Aminu and Davis as much PT as possible to see if there's anybody worth a tinker's damn in the long run . . . and out of that experimenting we're going to suck balls most likely which should help insure a decent draft position. That's it, that's all we need to do.

There is ZERO reason not to go after mcdaniels. Not saying we will sign him but there is no reason not to try. Like neil said, it's easier to make athletes into shooters than the other way around. At the very worst he becomes an asset. And if things go right u got your starting SG. Kanter is more debatable.
 
Do you guys we will trade Nards before the All Star break next year? Can't afford to let him leave for nothing.

I agree. I can handle that for 1 year. It is easier to watch our young players play hard and lose than to watch vets do it. It is all about improving the young talent and getting a good pick. (Hopefully only for 1 year)

No purpose in adding players to help us win unless they are also part of the future. If they are gone next year it does us no good unless they are great trade bait.

Bottom line is take one year to evaluate our young players and keep enough cap space available in case a piece falls into our lap via an unbalanced trade. I know some wouldn't mind that to happen for 2-3 years, but I am not a fan of that.

I agree that makes the most sense, but man we've spent a lot of years watching rebuild basketball.

Maybe it's just me. But they just fired his favorite coach and our team just fell a part. I would definately be thinking ahead if I was Olshey.

I guess that Olshey spent a lot of time structuring the current trailblazers with cheap, young, and athletic players. So he is going to see how they do without a lot of tweaking. A major trade would take away most or all of the talent he has acquired. Minor acquisitions like backup PG are possible. He must think he has a pat hand and hopefully he is not bluffing.

yes, if we can work something out with other teams, for example if Dalls need some capspace to sign Lin we could S&T Wes while they S&T Aminu to us

You guys do realize your talking about being in the same position BOS was in this season...where if they had missed the playoffs they would have gotten Winslow rather than drafter Rozier 6 picks later and then offering as many as six firsts to move up to get and draft him?

Playoff experience is overrated when it comes to the first round or two. Give me fresh talent every time over one and dones. Coaching experience in the playoffs is the underrated aspect, IMO.

Actually the likelihood is the opposite just mathematically speaking. They still have roster spots to fill.
