OT Sounds like we could get some snow later this week with some possible freezing rain

Well, there's BBQ, and there's barbeque...

I think Busters is BBQ. Meaning that it's good, but it's like "I use propane when I bbq" good, vs "I use charcoal when I barbeque, make my own marinade, and converted my shed to a smoker" good.

Columbia Christian?
Used to be a small college. My sister moved out here to be the head athletic trainer at the college 20 years ago.
Yep, that's the one. Put him in there this year after the public schools were so completely ineffectual with distance ed at the end of last year. Great decision.

So 2 miles NE of there, you up in like argay neighborhood?

6.5 inches of snow here in N.E. Portland!
Busy streets through town are pretty bad. Tons of cars abandoned on the sides of the roads. ALMOST didn't get home on our backstreets coming up the hills here in Alameda. No tire tracks whatsoever to drive in here. Thanks god for that All-Wheel Drive baby! Made it home from work safe.

Actually this wind up here is brutal. Our newish bamboo we planted in August is all bent over from it. Looks like they all snapped today while I was at work. That would be a very expensive fix.

I thought bamboo was supposed to be one of the heartiest plants out there

Shit I hope so. Mine are bent all the way to the ground. Probably a combo of the ice and wind. The wind right now in our back yard is gusting to 50+! Few trees down around the neighborhood.

Just poked my head out and took this pic. Worried about em!

Damn..well plants are pretty resilient..in 2019 when we got around 2 feet, all the bushes in the field across from my house were basically flattened. It was crazy to be able to look across the whole field, but they all recovered. I think your bamboo will be fine.

Hope so. I never do yard work (even though it's in my blood).....but we got these bamboo late summer. It was actually really relaxing during all this bullshit to go our there and watch the sun go down and water these things. Cool to see them multiply and grow. I was told they go nuts in the spring, so I was really looking forward to seeing them takeoff. Hope they survive.

That whole corner of the back yard used to be completely surrounded by huge 6o foot trees in our neighbors yards. Then they died and had to be cut down. I came home from a work road trip and was totally shocked when our once secluded backyard was completely ruined. Thought these would help.

I'm no horticulturalist..but I think bamboo grow and spread pretty quick so hopefully you'll get some of that privacy back soon..been thinking about getting something for my yard to block the view more than the fence

My cars back window is shattered.

At work.

Can't tape anything up cause its all ice and nothing sticks.

Don't have money for a tow truck.

Power is out. Trees falling everywhere. Power lines down everywhere.

So if you're sad or mad that nothing eventful happened. Be fucking happy. I am most likely out hundreds of dollars even with insurance because of the fucking deductible.

Whatever you do research what bamboo species is to be planted. For instance, my neighbor two doors over thought that itwould be novel and planted the species that cannot be killed. The stalks had grown to over 30 feet high and since their roots grow horizontally, my bud next to them has had a battle for years. They survive in winter climates. It's so weird to see full plumage on them in 24 degree weather.

Trees aNd power lines down all over canby. neighbors car got nailed by a large branch Nd other neighbor has half their tree fallen up against their house.

Luckily the only big trees we have on the property are away from the house, but all our neighbors have huge trees around

Gonna be a “help thy neighbors day” today.
