SI wondering if VC will be asking for a trade by mid-season.

Do they know something we don't?

Do they think Vince will feel he has too much of a load to carry?

Me, I don't see him asking for a trade. Doesn't seem to fit Vince's personality.

link?

They could be looking at it from the whole "getting older and not wanting to be part of a rebuilding" angle.

I thought that was a bad article by someone that probably didn't watch a lot of Nets games, but was friendly with RJ.

This one part ruined the articles credibility:
Chris Mannix said:
Though he will never be confused for Ron Artest, his ability to decently defend both swing positions was an asset for the Nets. At the very least, he was never a liability.
Never? Please. He even admitted his defense wasn't up to par during his Milwaukee press conference.

Um, why do you think he's on the Nets in the first place?

I don't remember all the details about his exit from Toronto, but he isn't 24 anymore and should be judges on his behavior over the past few years--seasons in which he has seemed to be the most mature and stable member of the team.

Does that rift still exist? I think so. Kidd and Jefferson are gone, but Carter is being asked to play hard for a team that: a.) doesn't expect to win for the next two years and b.) is subtly courting someone -- LeBron James -- to replace him. How long will it be before Carter demands a trade? Midseason?

honestly, i do not see vince asking for a trade. i think that would go against everything he has said and done this past year and offseason with the nets.

i do however see the nets looking to trade him if his value increases. if he plays anything like he did last year in the 2nd half of the year, he should be an attractive piece for a team looking to win in the playoffs *cough UTAH *cough*

POST ALL STAR BREAK STATS
23 ppg
6.5 rbs
5 asts
1. 6 stls
40.6 3pt%
47.5 fg%
85 FT%

that was vince's stats after kidd left and it was just him and devin. AND RJ was still there. AND it was on one leg. I bring that up because if he puts up those stats, i see nets looking to dump his money cause he is odd man out at this team. its all young pieces and he is the one that sticks out.

Wow, are you, ahem ... slow?

i do and the guy is a flake.

FROM TRUE HOOP

With the Nets, if they stink right from the get-go, there's going to be one very unhappy superstar with the initials V.C. who is going to want out as badly as Jason Kidd wanted out last season.

A question though, along the lines of the famous if a tree falls in the forest query: If the Nets are in turmoil, will anyone notice?

The ongoing decline of Vince Carter, mixed with his fragile ego and big contract, will become a toxic situation. Plus the uncertain status of Lawrence Frank. Because of the retooling of this team there will be higher expectations now ... and

sounds like vince has got a lot to prove this year. this could be the year that people remember him by instead of remembering his 16 last games a raptor.

In Toronto, Vince couldn't handle the pressure and the fans expectations

In NJ, there is zero pressure on Vince and he can put up pretty stats w/out worrying about wins. That is why Monstross is saying that it isn't in Vince's personality to ask for a trade.

Why would Vince want to leave a situation with no pressure?

I'm just curious, who would the Nets want in Return, that is of similar value as VC?

And yet in 27 playoff games with the Nets, Carter has averaged 26, 7 and 5...and went to the line nearly nine times a game.

Carter is not Paul Pierce, but then again, the Nets didnt have Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen.

This argument has long since become tiresome. He is who he is and that's pretty damn good.

not sure...cap space? ak47? really dont know what to tell you. but i do see the nets wanting to clear cap space for a major free agent or something.

Probably similar to what we traded Kidd and RJ away for: young prospects and/or draft picks. There's really no surprise there.

most nba players (and people in general) don't like pressure...vc is just honest to himself and others and doesn't put on a show...other players will talk and act like they crave the pressure situation and that that's what they're waiting for...but are completely terrified...other players aren't afraid of the pressure but never put the necessary work in to prepare for it so they fail unlike the greats who know if they make the play or shot 9 times out of 10 in practice and in their minds they will make the same play pressure or no pressure.

VC for artest and filler( prob luther head and change)

Does that work or do u think VC is worth Artest AND battier?

situations change but people don't.

Makes for a nice bumper sticker, but I don't believe that's true.

Situations can change people.

I didn't know one person that came back from the Vietnam War that was the same person he was when he left to go to Vietnam.

true, but are you prepared to eat crow when carter wants to be traded. you're taking quite a stand on someone here and don't think for a second i won't throw this in your face in a few months.

The article in question mention Vince might ask to be traded because he had to carry too much of the load.

I don't see that happening.

And the Vince that asked for the trade from the Raptors because he wasn't being consulted on the moves the team was making......that Vince doesn't exist anymore. He's been humbled.

However, if the Nets coach (Frank, or whomever) treated Vince the way Sam Mitchell treated Vince (reduced playing time, benching Vince at the end of games), I could see Vince asking for a trade, in which case I would expect Nets to get less in return for Carter than they gave up for him.

And feel free to throw whatever you like. It's only fair.

After all, I just made you eat your 'situations change but people don't' theory.

The funny part of this post is that Shook doesn't realize how much Montross want's Vince gone

I can't get pumped about this team. Vince Carter is so... blah.

I'm going to start referring to him as Vince Uno Cinco.

Rory, Vince has killed some of the enthusiasm I feel about the Nets also.

But a Nets fan I am, so I'm once again hoping for the best.

VC will be fine... cmon guys... have some faith!

IN ROD WE TRUST?
