Game Thread Stanford at Oregon, 9/22/2018

For every one of Dame's shot on Houston, or winning the lottery, there's a hundred blown leads or terrible injuries that ruined your season. It's just completely unbalanced. Add in that we're in Portland, so we don't get free agents like the Lakers, and it's just a bullshit hobby to fall in love with.

Rec like a muthafucka !

You mean the elitests pricks at the school that hoovers up more endowments that they fucking need. Yeah that team won. Good game though. Shaw is a hell of a coach.
did coach oregons center to snap because thats basically the only reason they won.

I'm not gonna get too depressed because I know that within a couple days that Jimmy Butler will be joining the Blazers!

Prepare to be disappointed.

Anyone brave enough to explain what happened? At work I checked the score and saw it was 24-7. I went to check the final score and saw they lost.
I'm rational, I'll give it a shot.

Oregon "scored" to go up 30-7, but after review, the ball was at the 1 yard line when the runners foot hit the pylon, WHICH IS OUT OF BOUNDS, so the refs CORRECTLY overturned the TD, and placed the ball at the 1. From there, the center had a few miscues and Stanford ended up scoring on a fumble.

Normal game from there, back and forth.

Oregon up 31-28 with 57 seconds left. This is where the story really is. Stanford had 1 timeout left, and Oregon had 2nd and 3. Oregon COULD HAVE, knelt twice, and punted the ball, giving Stanford about 10 seconds to go the length of the field with no timeouts. OR they could have done what they did and ran the ball for a first down, caused Stanford to use its final timeout, knelt twice and won the game. Verdell fumbled, or the game is over there too. Hindsight is easy.

Basically it looked like Willie Taggart was coaching the Ducks for the last 4 or so minutes of the game.......

Unfortunately because of the weak schedule they played ooc this is basically the end of the year, no playoffs now. Basketball cant come soon enough.
TBF...you really didn't expect them those a shot to make the playoffs, did ya?
Im thinking they will be a much improved team this year as compared to last few.
If they can right the ship in Berkley that UW game should be wild!

I mean realistically probably not they were gonna have to win out, but this was/is probably their only shot for a while because they’ll need a qb after this year. When it comes to college football, I am a huge duck fan but once they’re eliminated from relevance its hard for me to care. The hope now becomes hopefully they have a qb after Herbert goes to the NFL and in a couple years they get a shot again. Im a basketball first sports fan, and while I enjoy the husky / ducks rivalry I probably wont even watch it. Unfortunately in CFB once you lose a game unless your Alabama or Ohio State you basically are equal to the little sisters of the poor.

That was pretty much it for them.
Hopefully Cristobal has some talented qb’s coming in.

It's Cristobal's first year. They have more holes than a BP Gulf Coast oil rig. Give them time! Jeez. The fatalism on this board.

My point was literally that this year is done for them and maybe in the next year or two they’ll be ready to compete again, hows that not giving them time?

This year is done that was their shot to have a good year, now we see what Cristobal has for year 2, with another recruiting class. I define a good year as being relevant nationally, that pretty much took them out of it this year even if they win out the playoffs wont be a consideration, and they’ll go to maybe a 2nd teir bowl game.

They were never good enough to be in the playoff discussion in the first place. Hell. Neither is Stanford. But don't worry. We can still beat UW! :smiley-love:

It's a great learning experience for verdell too. You know he'll be protecting thr ball like crazy.
