Now I'm confused. Would it be racist to ask a black man if he likes his coffee black? Cause Eric just listed some things that could then be extended to many many things in life....

Shit, some mod should move all this irrational racist bs to an OT thread. Use me as a starter for all I care. LOL.

Anyhow. Screw the NBA. This is a Blazers forum and we be crushin on Friday!

Why do you think Black men would like coffee? Because they are black?

No. I like Black coffee. So my natural question when serving would likely be " Would you like it Black or with Flavor?"

But see Coffee isn't technically black. Its brown. So Eric has me wondering how many things in every day life should I be considering racist or potentially racist. I mean he knows more than another Black person who said he didn't think it was racist...

So Eric must know for sure and so I'm thinking I should probably take heed and head off at the pass any other potential racist statements he may feel is racist.

But now. . If I say. Would you like Brown coffee. Would that be racist against Mexicans, Spanish and anyone else of tanned, olive, or brown skin?

But, black people's skin isnt really black...its brown

Oh I no. And I'm messing with Eric, because he is being out of his mind and his crying( now that we ar in the OT the gloves can come off, lol) about this being a racist remark takes away form the fight against actual racism in my opinion.

Gotta pick and choose our battles and make sure context is taken into consideration when calling out racism in this fashion. Being falsely accused a racist can be very damaging, just like rape, so me personally, I don't take it lightly.

He has me on ignore anyhoe, so it isn't going anywhere. :)P

He said a bundle of sticks. Completely different. Race matters. While calling a white man a stud, for instance, may seem one way but calling a black meman whose race was bred like animals and soled as slaves a stud is racist. Calling Joel Przybilla the vanilla gorilla may not be racist but calling, say, Patrick Ewing a gorilla is racist to the nth degree. See the difference?
You confused racism with body shaming.

Now you are doubling down.

Haha

Keep digging that hole. I can use some entertainment.

And that's exactly my point.

We can start to twist most things in life into racist comments.

Eric should apologize to Rasta. It was an irrational judgment to claim he was making a racist comment.

I understand Eric's explanation of how it could be racist, but do not believe Rasta was trying to be racist, or that the implication of his words matched with what Eric was getting at.

A misunderstanding

I'm 6'1" and 155. The nicknames I've received because of that are unprecedented.

This whole thread makes me want to

Just wanted to let everyone know I locked this thread because I think there was high chance for racism, and negative posts to come from it. The initial point between rasta and eric had been discussed, I wanted to end it before it went places... It’s basic premise I didn't agree with personally (but thats not the point).

I think having discussions on whats racism, what isnt and so on is important, I just think there are numerous threads to do that in.

Nice job! Your reasons for closing are well thought out.
