JOE BIDEN’S HONEYMOON WITH PROGRESSIVE DEMOCRATS IS OFFICIALLY OVER
With his announcement that he “will not” cancel $50,000 of student loan debt, Biden commenced the first battle with the progressives who helped to elect him.

The funny thing about this is, he (like Obama and both Clintons, were never going to do anything progressive. They're not progressives, they're moderate Republicans in reality.

I think moderate is the only term needed...there are way more moderates than there are hard left or right wing voters...there are plenty of republicans willing to waste money...see the debt leap that just occurred over the last 4 years....can I get a WALL?

bullshit title to that article....Joe was always the moderate candidate...the guy who could compromise and work across the aisle....what is over is the Bernie Sanders voting base thinking Joe is Bernie....most of us know damned well he's not. and it's the independents that put Joe in office, not the hard left wing...actually Trump put Joe in office
Bingo and that why I voted for Joe because I think he's be the one to mediate (bring people together) conciliate (offer ideas and suggestions compromise!) and if needed arbitrate (be the judge and decide).
If we go down the road of polarized politics our kids and grandkids will not be people/people and know or understand what compromise even is! they will be soldiers of extremism and its happening now.

I’ve got a simple solution to this. Buy some bitcoins, and a year later you’ll have made enough money to pay off your student loans. Might even have some extra money to buy your girlfriend/fiancée/wife a $35 shirt and go gamble in Vegas in style, too!

Ask @EL PRESIDENTE how this shit works.

That shirt (err...sweater) I got her, it was just to meet a $50 threshold for spending to get a free $25 gift card. I got myself this shirt:

Gotta love folks who think spending 35 bucks means you will get free stuff......it just means they've changed the price tags to meet the quota! Call today and get TWO...that's right TWO sweaters for 19.99 and wait, there's more! (The sweater cost them 50 cents wholesale from a sweatshop in Honduras.)

The sweater was $50, but they were running a promo for them to be $35. Then if you spent $50, you get a $25 gift card. :Sly:

yeah...you're not married yet dude...she's going to spring the big items on you as soon as you sign the papers....we're talkin' HOUSE!!!!!!! Once the babies come....you ain't shoppin anymore for yo' self.....enjoy it now!

We're spending more on the wedding than I really want to. lolz. That's what gets me.

Our son got married a few years ago and the bride's dad paid for everything but the catering...we paid for that and helped rent tux's for the entourage.....bought the bridesmaids flowers ..etc...not bad.

Damn, I've got to start shopping with you!

I went into a furniture store with her a while back. They were running a deal where it was 30% off the whole store. The sales guy tells me this, and I tell him "I want 50%" and he said he could do that. lol

I didn't end up buying, we were just browsing around .

I'm not big into weddings at all and I think its a waste of money. Rather spend that money on the bachelor party :Sly:

I got married in the courthouse in Taipei with about 30 other couples at the same time....really cheap...then my father in law booked the restaurant and had the huge wedding dinner with all the relatives 3 days later and after it was over...the guests paid for it and we actually made money from the deal....gave it to my father in law to help offset his expenses ....the Taiwanese are very smart about the economics of marriage...the couple usually comes out of a wedding with money to start a life together...my job was to stay upright while slamming shots with relatives I was meeting for the first time and greeting them with a tray of Long Life cigarettes.....best name for a cigarette brand ever

I actually told her that we should request no gifts. Turn down free money, yo, but she shot down that idea.

Dude, I'm not marrying either of my daughter off to any dude that can't afford to pay for his own wedding. I don't care if it's a cheap ass wedding, but pay for it yourself. I'll help with other financials. It's the principles. I'm dead serious about this.
Lets just say our daughter in law has a father who's pretty well off and raised her by himself....in our case....I let him pay...he would have covered everything but we insisted on at least helping out with the catering and rentals...

I like that you think you'll have a choice in who she marries...they still arrange some marriages in Taiwan but that's pretty much died out unless the daughter has zero prospects

The Vietnamese are the same. Vietnamese and Chinese culturally have a lot in common.
My son married in a Vietnamese Christian church and the service was both English and Vietnamese. Plus I was asked to get u,p along with the brides pop and say a few words, to the congregation.
They had a money gift thing going, I guess similar to money tree and they received a huge amount.
I guess the Vietnamese dont do wedding or baby showers they give after/or during the event.

Note to self...marry a Vietnamese woman....

I've no idea what you're talking about, but it's cool if you don't want to talk about it.

On a related subject, one of my dumbass Vietnamese friends got in a bit of trouble in VN several years ago. Dude came to the U.S. at 2 years old, but thought it was cool to be anti-VC (Viet Cong) and wears the old Southern VN flag around all the time. I told him before he came to VN not to do any of that shit because he'd get into serious trouble. Dude didn't listen to me and brought a hat with a South VN colors on it. Wore it on one of his tours in VN and got arrested. Fortunately for him, the police chief and the mayor was very understanding when I tried to explain his situation to them (basically just told them he was a dumbass and had no clue what the hell he was doing). Of course, I had to take both the police chief and the mayor out to a very expensive dinner afterward.
My daughter in-law's family are merchants in the Mekong Delta area wish I knew what town. Her Mom and Dad have been here a few years and daughter-in law & dad just got their US citizenship.

Not to mention the most misleading cigarette name ever........
