Summer League takeaways - What We Learned

My big takeaway is that Swanigan and Collins are going to have some real battles for the starting job at PF. Both look to be significant upgrades over Vonleh/Aminu.

I kinda liked what the kings did with the no defense thing they employed with their g league team. I forget the details but it was like leave a guy back to cherry pick every possession or something.

Really? I remember the Kings owner mentioning cherry picking in an interview, and I thought he was nuts. Did it work well?

The big takeaway is that Meyers Leonard didn't make the team. He should have, IMO.
It's been stated by management that Meyers needs to play in as many organized basketball games as possible this summer. But they left him off the summer league team. My guess is it's because he would have taken minutes away from Caleb and Zach, and any other players they may have wanted to evaluate and acclimate into the Blazers system. Maybe it means more than that as far as Meyers' future, maybe it doesn't. Who knows.

I don't think you can make guys play in Summer League if they've been in the league for 3 years. I could be wrong though.

I was thinking it was something along those lines too.... :dunno:

I'm not sure I get the concept either. Isn't the whole point of the D league to get players ready for the big time? Using an unorthodox strategy might help win some games, but it isn't going to help the players if nobody at the NBA level plays that way.

If I remember correctly they lost like every game. But jimmer averaged like 45/15 or some shit

I didn't mean I liked it as a strategy, I just liked it because it was weird. I like weird stuff!
