Well, you don't make a very good case for it. The laws that govern physics aren't arbitrary, they are the result of the nature of matter. Nature is the "lawgiver".

But nature cant program. Computers dont program themselves, they require intelligent arrangement of data.

You say nature gives laws but your evolutionary theory defies the laws of thermodynamics. It's a logical contradiction.

I think we are afraid to believe that we are alone in this world, so man has made up gods since the beginning of our time. What makes this god any different than Oden, Zeus, Ra, or Jupiter? History has proven that even thousands of years ago, man has used religion to control the populace and profit. When Alexander the Great conquered Egypt, he was told that if he went through their rituals to become the new Pharaoh, he would become their god and the people would be less likely to revolt. This was an amazing realization for Alexander, so he sent word back to Greece that the temples were to now start telling the people that he was a god.

So what makes Christianity any different? It has been used to control the populace. The Catholic church has done terrible things in the name of God. All of the death and torture and persecution that has happened under Christianity. And it is still used today to take people's money and manipulate the people all over the world.

I think there's still something larger than us, but I don't think it's the Christian god. That story has been twisted and altered and revised so many times, who even knows what really happened over 2,000 years ago.
Additionally, if you're against christianity because of catholic crusades (not same religion, check spelling) then you must also hate athiests.

Obama closed the ocean? I was just down there yesterday. It was open, me and the dog went right in.

I have been to Midway, Laysan, and French Frigate Shoals. Beautiful places! I had planned to go again, until this fellow fucked it up for me.
I think it would have been this winter.

eia at just the right angle to not only form our moon but also to provide iron and a spin that is just right. The term 'amazing' hardly does it justice.

Oh yeah! The Magnetic Shield! Outstanding! Thank you for the contribution. Additions made in the list.:cool2:

Life adapts to its environment. Thinking that some magical being adapted the environment for some preconceived idea for life is silly.

Sure, because we built computers. It's like saying rabbits can't drive cars. Yeah, so?

Nature can certainly "program" natural things. Your heart beats without you writing code (and without some deity intervening).

I don't believe that is correct. In any case, I cannot give you even partial credit unless you show your work.

Entropy says everything is moving toward chaose but evolution says we are mutating to a more advanced creature. Evolution defies entropy.

The heart beats because the DNA code tells it to. The DNA code has established how you will look as an adult before you exit the womb. There is no possible way for primordial soup to be struck by lightning and form DNA.

Evolution is beyond unscientific. Id believe in the flying spaghetti monster before id believe this garbage psycience.

Who said anything about hate?

All I see is a bunch of people who used some form of indoctrination to control a weak minded public and inflicted a lot death and destruction as a dictator. That doesn't make them better or worse than what happened in the Crusades or the Spanish Inquisition or the conquest of the Americas where millions of natives were killed as the church tried to spread their missions up and down North and South America.

Nothing controls my life. Not religion. Not politics. I don't loyally give myself to any movement. I analyze and I decide for myself. Sometimes I vote Republican, sometimes I vote Democrat. I went to church for a few years. Got confirmed Lutheran. It's a good community to do fun stuff like play softball, but I still see a lot of hypocrites. People who claim to follow the bible, but still judge others. I'm sure Jesus was a really good dude (if he existed), and he would be ashamed of what people have done and are doing in his name. Whether he is the actual son of god is another matter entirely.

My point, is that I don't just accept anything. I keep an open mind and I decide things for myself. I have had some shit happen to me that makes me think there's something greater than me.... but is that the Christian god? I don't know. Either way, I think organized religion is a tool used to steal people's money and control people's actions.

Need to do the same for the vast amount of the Pacific Obama closed to us too. Rather emperor like. But perhaps a different thread.

It was an executive order which Trump can change if he wants to.

It is the MarAzul free zone that pisses me off!

Aha, I can understand that. I had a friend that owned land on the Olympic peninsula. He got forcibly bought out by the government who wanted it protected. He had mixed feelings, He loved his property that he frequently back packed into but liked protecting that area. He had mixed feelings.

Reread the beginning with an open mind. See what you can contribute, or not.

Sorry, all I can get from the first post is:

1) We have a niche
2) Therefore, we were designed for that niche.

Depending on what you mean by 'designed for', I might or might not agree.

Protection? What I see is exclusion. MarAzul's voyage there was in plan too. I don't believe I would have harmed it anymore than the last time.
It was rather Emperor like to do it to.

I sort of like that number, it can pry people off their position Used properly that is.

Try the number google. There is no known use for it. It is greater than the total known and suspected number of sub atomic particles in the known and suspected universe. It is also greater than the number of radii of a hydrogen atom across the diameter of the known universe.

And then there's google plex.

I'm quite certain that the exclusion was not meant for you. However, there are regions that need protection due to disappearing species and trash.

Designed might not be the right word. Who knows how God works? I certainly don't. I'm drawn back to that word infinity that I have virtually no understanding of except that it's really big.

And perhaps the only niche of the kind.
Do you know of Kurt Gödel?

Are you aware of his thinking on the issue?

WTF? Certainly it was meant for me, and any like me, few as they may be! It did not have to be, he could have just ban commercial fishing, but he include me.

No, you misunderstand the science. The 2nd law of thermodynamics doesn't say that everything moves toward chaos. If that were true no one could ever build an automobile or organize a library. If you put energy into something, you can move it to less disordered states. A living being is not an isolated system. Animals eat, and use that energy to grow and reproduce and mutate and evolve.

Tourism...that's why...they should ban those damned helicopter tours too...I used to swim up above Akaka Falls where my Hawaiian friends hunted boar...every 5 minutes a helicopter would fly up the canyon with tourists ogling you.....lot of places I love to go to in the world but tourists shut them down....my favorite river hike in the world got ruined by a cement company that decided to quarry there.

And perhaps the only niche of the kind.

Yes, perhaps so. One certainly can't say for sure whether there is or is not another planet elsewhere that could support us.

Do you know of Kurt Gödel?

Are you aware of his thinking on the issue?

Yes to the first question, although I'm no expert on him. On the second question, I'm a little unsure still of what the issue is. But maybe if you tell me his thinking on the issue, I will be able to discern what the issue is.

It is essential to the definition of a linear combination that only finitely many terms have nonzero coefficient. Otherwise, one needs a notion of convergence, and that is not part of the definition of an abstract vector space. So, technically the polynomial expansions of the transcendental functions do not count as linear combinations.

Example: 1+ x +x^2 + x^12 + ... + x^368 + ...+x^20 zillion

This is a legit linear combination.
