S&T for him, please!

Miller/Sessions would be God-like!

We got plenty to offer, as imo we still need some consolidation.

Yeah, I'd be pretty happy with a deal for Sessions to back up Miller for a year or two and then take over as starter. As much as I think Sessions can start now, he's only going to be 23 next season, so it's not like backing up Miller for a year or two is an insult or a serious blow to his career.

Agreed. Blake, Bayless and Outlaw all eminently tradable. If we go for Sessions we need to try and pry away Kurt Thomas as well he would be an ideal veteran backup PF/C.

Right he could still easily get 20 minutes a game giving Miller 28 including starting and closing. Of course we might run the Roy/Rudy back court to close things out as well.

Miller/Sessions would in my opinion be an ideal PG rotation. Sessions could learn so much from Miller as they have very similar games really. I'd like to either see Batum become a serious threat at the 3 and/or see Webster return in Sacramento pre-season form and/or get another SF who can defend and shoot the 3 ball. I think we have PLENTY of offense weapons we need a distributor who preferably can defend the point and have a decent A/T ratio.

There is no way in hell that KP trades "Blakey"
Well I will have to tell Cleveland the LeBron deal is off if KP won't trade Blake. That's a deal breaker from Cleveland's perspective. I guess if KP won't go for an obvious upgrade in talent and potential then we are in trouble.

well since both arent ready.. to me it comes down to skill set and what the other brings. we lacked a scoring punch IMO with Both Blake and Batum and Joel in the starting 5. someone who can create their own shot. So while Outlaw drives me up the wall about 85% of the time. He provided something we needed. And still do depending on what Webster does.

This is the reason why we need POINT GUARDS. A good PG gets the ball to players in a position to score; that way the team does NOT rely on a solo artist to get a good look. With Sessions/Miller, the need for a guy to "create his own shot" vanishes.

Pretty much, what we need is a PG, preferably with some defense. At a minimum we need a PG who is young enough to develop with our core who can get in the paint, distribute, draw fouls, hit FT's at a good clip, play respectable defense and run the opportunistic fast break. Ideally a young PG with all of the aforementioned qualities along with a great 3pt shot and lockdown potential defense. Of course we also need a backup PF/C and possibly a vet SF to start or get significant minutes off the bench. It is in my mind a foregone conclusion that Outlaw needs to be on another team by no later then the Trade Deadline.

Sessions is as close as we are going to get, for a proven PG. And he *is* top-10 in the league, at 23 years old. Acquiring him would solidify the Blazers at this position for a LONG time to come. The team would be a LOT harder to beat with a steady hand at the point for all 48. And having Miller and Sessions means that energy (which is a big deal at the defensive end) won't flag. That is a concern with Brandon Roy, let alone with a 33/34 year-old Miller!

I agree with your sentiment but not necessarily your assertion that Sessions is a top 10 PG in this league. I think he could be some day and it's worth trying to get him unless you have a certainty you are going to land a high unprotected 1st round pick (presumably from a trade) or another young PG that you think is attainable (Conley). Not sure what B-Roy finds quite so funny. As far as young potentially available PG's who have proven something in this league Sessions is about the only one that seems attainable. Perhaps Flynn will be great and he could be available, but he has yet to prove anything in this league. It's pretty barren out there unless Conley is on the block. Conley is easily my favorite super young PG and he could be available with the rumored switch of Mayo to PG next year.

Laugh away.

http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/holl...istics?sort=per&qual=true&pos=pg&seasonType=2 has Sessions at 13, Miller at 12.

But factor in defense (where Sessions is considered better than many of the players ahead of him), and I think he is probably 10th best. It may be a debatable proposition, but not laughably so.

The only other 22-24 year old PGs that have better numbers are Paul and Rondo. They are out of reach, of course. But to get the third best 23-year old PG in the league for S&T Outlaw/Blake/Bayless?? It seems a no-brainer to me.

I definitely agree with this. I think Sessions is on the outside looking in, but that could all change next year.

I also strongly agree with this although I would want Kurt Thomas in return and I'm not sure I can justify trading all three of those guys. I think you have to trade Blake and Bayless in this trade. I also think you have to consider throwing in Outlaw perhaps for Thomas and a future protected first rounder.

In other ranking systems... Roland Rankings have Sessions as a Top-50 player overall, with 8 point guards ahead of him:

Others have him much lower -- 18-22 range. In those rankings, Miller is place very high.

I guess this is all academic. KP is not going to do this, but I REALLY wish he would!

He may yet make that move. KP loves value more then almost anything. If Sessions gets locked in on the cheap then KP might make a move. The other option of course is that Sessions is a headcase. I just don't understand any other argument against the guy. 3pt% isn't enough to explain the relative lack of interest. Of course this summer has been odd what with the economy and all.

I want to state something before it comes across like I'm slagging Sessions, I think he's a helluva talent, a great finisher and great passer, but a great defender he is not. I was intensely interested in him throughout last season because I knew he was a RFA this summer and I wondered if he'd be somebody on KP's radar screen. Because of this I made it a point to watch about fifteen Bucks games on League Pass and I was able to draw a few conclusions based on that experience. He's not a terrible man-to-man defender, but his team defense is very shaky; he commonly missed rotations or failed to close out on shooters in his area, now of course this is something that could be improved upon with time, practice and experience, but making a move to get him would not be for his defense.

For comparison's sake Miller had a floor time defensive score of 95.3 (a decent measure of a player's effect on team defense) and a PER allowed of 17.9, whereas Sessions had a floor time defensive score of 101.8 and a PER allowed of 14.1, seeming to back up my eyeball test of him being pretty good in man-to-man situations but kind of lost at times within a zone or on rotations. Caveat: Some caution needs to be used when reading these scores as they are not normalized to account for a player being a starter and facing other starting quality players or coming off of the bench like Sessions did.

If KP somehow was able to trade Bayless for Sessions and perhaps another minor player or pick I'd be pretty excited to see that happen, but I think the point guard ship has sailed with the Miller acquisition.

I wonder how true this report is. The Bucks might want to leak that so that another team makes an offer for only $3.1 million, which they'd then gleefully match.

Or it could be a real leak. Or it could be made up.

barfo

Or they want him gone, without ticking off fans, and are trying to attract suitors for him.

I would offer Blake and a 2nd round pick (or the rights to one of our stashed Europeon's) for Sessions. I still think Bayless has a chance to emerge as our pg of the future, but it'd be nice to up the talent level.

Why not keep Blake for now and trade Bayless who will we worthless and upset with a Sessions signing. Sessions to me has already shown the "PG skills" we hope Bayless can "one-day" achieve, plus he gets NO time behinh Roy and Rudy. I know that is would be too many good PG's, but we sort it out the first few months and then move Blake's expiring near the deadline and we let Sessions know he is the PG of the future.

I like your idea. Trade Blake and Outlaw (If we still have TO after the TD or heaven forbid next summer I might lose all faith in KP) at the deadline as expirings. Trade Bayless and maybe a 1st round pick for Sessions.
