I remember Balfours situation being discussed on MLB after he failed the Baltimore Orioles Physical. I don't remember the exact details went into the TV room to retrieve something and I guess the Orioles had concerns over different body parts. Tried to find it in print but to no avail. Allegedly the Nationals are interested. If the Yankees decide to give him a shot they need to insure his physical shows he's pure as the driven snow. If he did make the team he and McCann would be quite the pair.

Buster Olney " The red flags that came up about Grant Balfour's physical state were about his wrist and knee, and not about his shoulder."

Good to know. Thanks... Ok, so it isn't shoulder, but wrist and knee...

either way, it was possible/probable health issue which made one team walk away and no one has gotten serious with him since... so why should we? Can we afford him if the injury were to happen, sure, but should they take another risk like they seem to do every year (see Youkilis last year)...

...oh, I think someone will certainly take a chance on him...why not the Yanx?

...offered 2 years/$15 Mil from the O's....not sure what he'd be willing to settle for now.

...f'n rick still owes me. OK, if I can't have the Chee-tos, I'll settle for Kate Upton.

I guess.... But he's 36 and if the injury was going to affect him this year, he'd be 37 next year, it's not like he's 26... I just don't want to see another Youkilis signing...

Hopefully he doesn't completely bust on the big New York stage. Sorry somebody had to say it. It's good Kuroda is going to be around to mentor him in his first year in America.

...you're probably right and to be honest, I did not realize that he is that old...but I'm just taking into consideration that he might be good for 60-70-80 innings.

ok... but is $7.5M worth 60-80 innings?

Yankees will get roasted for spending that much money on him just watch.

I do not give two craps who criticizes this pick up. There will be those
who will critique up the yazoo. So what. Let's move forward.
Who's Cano????

...$7.5 mil per year is what the O's were gonna give him before he failed the physical...I don't see him getting that now...I'm guessing he'll only get some sort of 1 year deal now...Kinda like what Napoli had to do last year after failing his physical.

Hey 59, no cheetos for you, you also said the Dodgers in the other thread I bumped.

...nah, rick owed me a bag of chee-tos from another bet...and the bastid reneged.

Cheetos Welcher?

How can he he show himself after that?

^^^...simple, he has no self esteem...he makes bets and when he loses, he simply shrugs it off.

not a fan of the effing opt out...

Yankees weren't either. Just heard cash man on the yes network and he said opt out wasn't in their initial offer but he was told other teams offered it and if he wanted to still be in it they had to offer it also
so he did. Also said an 8 man delegation of yankee officials met with tanaka and representatives as each team was allowed one presentation. Also said matsui spoke directly with tanaka about what the yankees are all about.

...that may have been the compelling reason why he signed.
