So are we good if we win since we’ll be tied with the Magic?
No. A coin flip will determine odds. We have to loseSo are we good if we win since we’ll be tied with the Magic?
A coin flip wouldn't have even determined the odds, we would have had to split the odds in the lotto with the Magic and if neither team moved into the top 4 then a coin flip would have determined who picked before the other team.No. A coin flip will determine odds. We have to lose
This is a great question.Walker or Whitmore?
You can call it whatever you want, but everybody in the NBA knows Portland is tanking. Saying a player is “injured” is a little game that the NBA commissioner should certainly be smart enough to figure out. The Mavericks can claim their players needed “rest” as easily as Portland can claim their players are injured, but again, the NBA commissioner should be smart enough to see through both ruses.
AKA... we're trading anything outside of the #1 pick or we're trading Dame.
Wemby should be ready to win right away.If he truly feels like that it scares me about Sharpe, also if we land Wemby there’s no chance in hell we trade him and the organization/fans are gonna have to settle for a Wemby/Sharpe era.

He’s going back and forth. Which is it?
It’s okay if he doesn’t want to wait on guys that are 2 or 3 years away. Please demand the trade and be done with all this bother.
It’s better for both sides if he demands a trade anyway.
He's not going to demand a trade. I think if Cronin has another presser where he says he just couldn't get it done that Dame will speak with Jody about getting a different GM that will pull the trigger. That might get Dame traded but he will then say that the team chose to move on without him, not the other way around and this organization will look terrible. He’s going back and forth. Which is it?

I know he is. That’s not what’s best for the team. There isn’t a “win-now” kind of trade short of Embiid. He's telling Cronin to make a win-now trade, not to trade him.
He expects trades for seasoned star players. Which will happen before long. We're not contending next year or the year after regardless; I don't know what Dame expects from the braintrust.
LOL at "settle" for "Wemby/Sharpe" era. I think most fans would be hugely excited about that! Sign me the fuck up!If he truly feels like this it scares me about Sharpe, also if we land Wemby there’s no chance in hell we trade him and the organization/fans are gonna have to settle for a Wemby/Sharpe era.

Trading multiple 1sts + maybe even Sharpe for a Siakam or OG is not a win-now move. That’s a “get back in the playoffs so my career can be a ‘I made the playoffs this many times’ legacy” kind of move.
That’s not the best move for the organization. He got compensated for being in this situation. Put up or move on.
Unfortunately, lately teams have been asking for and getting the moon for star players, with high draft picks becoming less valued then 5 or 10 years ago. This IMO is not the time to vastly overpay for someone, rather build thru the draft and trade or keep Dame depending on what he wants. I think it's better for both sides if he leaves, he gets a chance at a ring and Por gets a rebuild. He expects trades for seasoned star players. Which will happen before long.
Pray for Wemby folks. That's all we can do from now
I think you're substantively right... giving up chunks of the future won't make us a contender for anything other than HCA unless it's a remarkable, remarkable deal (like you allude to)).I know he is. That’s not what’s best for the team. There isn’t a “win-now” kind of trade short of Embiid.

We're in a position where we care about the team's well-being after he retires. He doesn't have to give a shit about the team after he retires. Our priorities are very different. In this case I would tell Dame to try and understand that the franchise can't destroy itself for him (any more than it already has)I think you're substantively right... giving up chunks of the future won't make us a contender for anything other than HCA unless it's a remarkable, remarkable deal (like you allude to)).
I'm not sure that Dame agrees with us, even though it seems so obvious. I think that he really believed that Grant was an important addition, and I think that he thinks that another piece or two being swapped in will make a big difference.
But (again, as you allude to) who gives a fuck? What does Lillard know about building a championship-level team? LeBron James doesn't know anything about it, and he's won a lot of rings.
