Could make a strong argument it'd be best for this franchise to pivot immediately, trade Dame and push for full on tanking.
Are you one of those crazy fans who wants their team to be legit contenders and even favorites??? Defensive fanboy nonsense aside, an issue with your proposed pivot is that if they moved Dame for just future assets, with Ant, Grant & Nurk they'd still be decent enough to win some games. They'd have to go full tank mode and start making up season ending injuries to have decent enough lotto odds to have any real VW hope

just because you make the argument often doesn't make it a strong argument

It’s a tricky situation, but it’s long been evident that you need to strike some luck in the draft to get a contender in Portland. We haven’t had a GM with some balls since Whitsitt and our free agent heap is pathetic.

I’m sure you’re aware of this though.

But I think if the right offer is on the table, trading Lillard could be a smart move for the franchise.

I’ll live in the present though and continue to hope and wish for a championship contender with the present guys.

Hakeem and Shaq are the only comparisons I could make to Victor in that he's just an unbelievable can't miss prospect... at least as good as any since I started following hoops in the 70s. Only injury will keep him from dominating from the day he first steps on an NBA floor.

It makes me cringe when he does those crossovers - it looks like his knees might snap.

He played in my town last week. Didn't realize until the game had already started. I'm going to assume it was sold out months in advance so I'm not mad about not going.

Wow

I absolutely love Dame. But when I think about the massive fucking haul the Jazz got for Gobert.....man I wish we'd gone all-in on the tank at the start of this season.

We'd have Ant and Sharpe highlights every night on our way to an absolute shit record and a really good shot at Wembenyama to boot. Can you imagine fielding this lineup?
Ant/Hart/Sharpe/Grant/Wembanyama

And that's before we even get to all the amazing first round picks and youngsters tossed in, positioning us for consolidation trades for stars down the road. Hell, maybe we even wind up getting Dame back at some point just so he can set the franchise records.

We needed a Danny Ainge-level of ruthlessness and long-term thinking to do it. We got Cronin, who isn't a bad GM. Just not what it really took to pull off such an unpopular move.

We will never get Wembanyama so it's all moot.

So, your town was designed by Disney?:breakdance:

This just reminded me of the Todt family murders.

Really good podcast called "looking for the todts". Highly recommend. If youve heard of it, you understand the reference.

Synopsis: dude murdered his whole family then stayed in the house he killed them in, with the bodies, for weeks. In a town called Celebration, Florida. Which was created by Disney.

Just went and read about that. Fucking terrible.

The podcast is wild too. It's pure evil and the guy had the audacity to be a fucking prick on the stand. A lot of the jurors said that weighed a bit on their verdict.

The guy tried to "feuge state" it like Walter white but he kept fucking up and having very selective memory lol

Of course there is a podcast. It sounds very evil. To be able to do that and then live amongst the corpses like it's nothing. How could someone do that to their family? I can't understand it.

He tried to act like he had amnesia but was remembering too much, therefore showing his memory is fine? Not surprised.

That just shows he has no remorse. How did it weigh on their verdict? Like it pushed them more towards guilty?

I have just resigned myself to the fact that we will just be a middling team as long as Dame is here, because he's keeping this shit heap afloat, and once Dame retires we might get a new front office and a new team.

Cool. See ya then!
