The Dems have proven through their actions with Al Franken that they have way more of an ability to hold their own accountable over the morally bankrupt GOP.

where did I ever say that or even insinuate that? It was merely a comparison. For the record, I don't speak for the democratic party and I'm not even a democrat. Also, trump is much worse in many ways.

I don't have a problem with those being unsealed, but those are his personal papers. The complaint that Reade says she filed would be with the Senate personnel office, which the New York Times already looked through.

In no way acknowledging that Biden is guilty, but ignoring it seems to work for many of Trump's followers...just sayin'.

I don’t question that Trump is far worse than Biden in many, many ways. I’ve made clear on this board that I do NOT support Trump in any way. If it comes down to Trump vs. Biden, I will vote Biden. That said, the point I was trying to make is that the response to allegations against Biden can’t be that he’s okay because Trump is worse. It has to be, is it probable that Reade’s accusation is true, and if so, is it better for the Dems to select a new candidate at the convention than to push forward with Joe with this cloud over him? My opinion is, yes. I don’t see how the Party can be viewed as anything but hypocritical if they stick with Joe unless they can demonstrate that her accusations are without merit.

Nope. It's stating that the person's statement in defense of Reade's story is collaborated by a friend that deeply supports the person being accused. That holds more weight

The Dems proving her allegations are without merit are as impossible to prove as her proving they are.

I mean how is Joe going to come out of this completely clean?...he can't, and the GOP knows this so they're trying to perpetuate the narrative.

Well, now you are moving the goal posts as you made allegations I was speaking for the democratic party and even alluding that I am a democrat. Which I explained is not even true.

You can't have one set of standars for one party and one standard for the other party. Isn't the republican party being hypocritical when they have ignored and even defended trumps sexual allegations and then demanding Biden be investigated?

But the really bad thing is like I just said, no way Joe can come out of this without it following him whether the accusation has merit or not...for example, there have been many cases where guys were charged with sex crimes only to be cleared later because the plaintiff broke down and confessed that she had made the whole thing up.
But sadly, that stigma follows the accused for a long time, maybe forever.

I made a mistake in implying that you speak as a Democrat. You back the Party so often that it's easy to get confused, but I apologize.

To me, although the Republicans are loving the position that this accusation puts Biden and the Dems in, it's a mistake to look at it from that perspective. The Convention hasn't taken place yet and Biden is not the Party's candidate at this point. This has to be about the Democrat Party itself and whether the way that they are handling the accusation is consistent with their stated support of women's issues and whether Biden is so tainted by this that he can't be the standard bearer for an issue that is deeply important to many Democrats. Reade, while not totally consistent in her complaints, has far more supporting evidence backing what she says than Ford did in her accusations against Kavanaugh. It seems to me that the Party has to at least undertake a formal internal investigation of the claims. They need to listen to Reade in person, talk to her friends and family who have stated that they did hear from her about these accusations at the time they happened, question Biden's staff who claim that there is no record of the event happening, etc. It should be done in a way that is transparent, without any attempt to sweep it under the rug, and it should be done quickly so that the results are available prior to the Convention.

That's all true, but the stigma of hypocrisy lasts a really long time too. None of those considerations were given any weight in the Democrat's questioning of Kavanaugh.

Tara Reade Says She Is Willing To Testify Under Oath

presidential candidate Joe Biden’s accuser is willing to testify under oath, she told the Daily Caller News Foundation on Thursday.

The former vice president has remained silent on Tara Reade’s allegations of sexual assault, ignoring many requests for comment from the DCNF on the matter, but his accuser told the DCNF on Thursday that she would be willing to testify about her allegations under oath.

Biden has not responded to a request for comment as to whether he would be willing to testify under oath.

Reade has also called on the former vice president through the DCNF to release documents pertaining to his time in the Senate, during which period she said Biden kissed her, touched her and penetrated her with his fingers without her consent. “Joe Biden, I want you to release all the personnel records from 1973 to 2009 and be transparent about your office practices,” Reade told the DCNF in an exclusive interview Tuesday. “I would like to hold you accountable for what happened to me, to how your staff protected you and enabled you, bullied me multiple times into silence.”

She added: “You ended my career. You ended my job after you assaulted me. You claim to be the champion of women’s rights, but your public persona does not match your personal actions.”

“I want this brought to light and I want you to admit it in public,” Reade said. “I want a public apology for calling me a Russian agent and having other people try to smear my character in order to cover your crimes.”

The Biden campaign has denied the assault and said it “absolutely did not happen.”
