Strange how this wasn't included...hmmm;

“In all my years working for Senator Biden, I never once witnessed, or heard of, or received, any reports of inappropriate conduct, period — not from Ms. Reade, not from anyone,” Marianne Baker, who was the office manager in Biden’s office at the time, said in the campaign statement, according to The Intercept.

She added: “These clearly false allegations are in complete contradiction to both the inner workings of our Senate office and to the man I know and worked so closely with for almost two decades.”

Because it doesn't pertain to the current statement made by Reade saying she is willing to testify under oath. Glad you were able to use the same "right leaning" outlet to show they DID report the opposing argument in another article. :D

You pointed out that Biden could be saddled with the stigma of the assault allegation for a long time, even if it turned out, years later, that the accuser admits she made the whole thing up. That was also true for Kavanaugh, but the Dems pushed ahead with their case against him even though there was minimal credible corroboration of Ford’s accusations, certainly less than there is for Reade’s. How is it not hypocritical for them to try to just brush Joe’s case under the rug because it’s not politically convenient? What happens next time a woman brings a similarly thin complaint against another Republican? Where’s the moral authority to challenge that guy?

It doesn’t make it right but since when has hypocrisy EVER been a political roadblock??? The Republicans mainline hypocrisy like a drug......and it’s worked wonderfully so far. Yeah, moral high ground, etc, etc, etc. But politics and moral high ground are mutually exclusive (duh). Trump was accused by a plethora of women of sexual assault (at the minimum). The Republicans said, “Prove it.” As far as I know, no actual proof was ever offered.....though buy off offers were actually made. That's pretty credible. Yet enough Americans said, “So what?” And voted the guy into office. Christine Blasey Ford told others about her assault AND testified under oath that the incident happened. That didn’t seem to make it any more credible.....and an emotionally unfit Kavanaugh now sits on the Supreme Court. I do not want a sexual predator of ANY kind in elected office but I’m not sure if we really have the choice. I guess it’s between a kinder, gentler predator or a crude, boorish predator. Welcome to the America of the 21st Century......

I don’t want a sexual predator of any kind as president either. I don’t agree that there isn’t a choice. The Dems can still get this right by doing what I said in a previous post. Investigate in a clear and transparent way prior to the convention and then choose a candidate that they are confident isn’t tainted in that way. If it’s Joe, great. If not, there are other good choices. Just ignoring the problem doesn’t cut it.

I wasn't aware that the Dems were trying to brush anything under the rug.

And for one, I though Kavanaugh did exactly what Ford and the others testified to/claimed, plus that wasn't a criminal trial and it was hamstrung from the beginning by the GOP reps. The GOP did the same thing in the impeachment trial. And though it was also not a criminal trial, most people believed that Trump did what he was accused of but it didn't matter because the GOP led senate simply looked the other way and backed Trump up regardless of the preponderance of evidence.

Problem with this statement is the Republicans aren’t claiming they are advocates of #MeToo. They’ve always had the “prove it” platform. In the case of Democrats, they’ve took up that mantle, so claiming, “prove it” goes against their advocate of the #MeToo movement.

The Reade accusation is just as much an argument of public perception as the Kavanaugh case. In the political spectrum, it’s always about public perception.

No, they aren't the prove it party. They are the party that actually has endorsed and made rape and sexual assault ok. Maybe someone close to you will get raped and you can tell her just to lay back and enjoy. No big deal.

There is no criminal case against Biden and there won’t be one because the statute of limitations has long since passed. Ms. Reade filing her complaint was just for the purpose of getting it on the record.

And what the Repubs did, or Trump did, or what you believe Kavanaugh did has zero to do with what’s right here. This is, or should be, about the Dems getting their house in order. They say that they support women’s rights. They say that women should be listened to when they make allegations against men in power. They made those points explicitly clear against Kavanaugh. What are they doing now? Nothing to see here. Nothing happened. Hey, look at these nifty VP options.

Sorry, but I don't know what you're basing the above bolded statement on.

As far as Ms Reade, I don't think it's about getting it on record, instead, I think it's about money and lawyers...seems like that's what it always comes down to.

The Democrats made all those points very clear......and it gained them absolutely nothing. A large segment of society didn’t care.....which makes it very clear (at least to me) that the Democrats have learned their lesson (such as it is). Politicians have ALWAYS said what people wanted to hear, and what made themselves look good. And then failed to follow through. You are correct; nothing to see here. Business as usual (not that that makes it palatable). I’m not sure why we should be the least bit surprised....or if we even have a right to be disappointed anymore.

The bolded part is just based on the Biden campaign's statements and the discussion that came out this week about VP candidates. Certainly that's not necessarily the Party's position, but their response has been pretty much crickets so far.

I don't know Ms. Reade's motivations any more than you do. Could be something nefarious, but it could also be that she just doesn't want to see the guy that she says assaulted her get elected as President of the United States.

Let me ask you this, if you're a woman and believed the talk that the Dems have made about supporting women's issues, how does it make you feel if they do squat on the Biden accusation?

I could maybe buy into that except for that the guy has been a senator that won his election to remain a senator since 1973. Then he was appointed as vice president since 2008 to 2016. And then rumors were circulating well in advancd that Biden was possibly going to toss his hat in and during all that time, no objection. Being vice president is a very small step to possibly becoming a president by default and yet no complaint. That seems a bit odd that she wants to now make it an issue. If her motivation was to stop Biden from being prersident, why would she be ok with him as a senator and then VP for over 20+ years since the incident? Doesn't seem to add up.

This is such a ..?????? statement mags....plenty of republicans empathize with the movement and the advocates who brought it to the table aren't political parties at all, period.....they are victims or accusers...you're basically saying to be Catholic makes you a pedophile ...prove it has always existed....so has payola and hush money..so has perjury for profit..it's not cut and dried into two little political groups

It could be as simple that the #MeToo movement and the courage of other women, coupled with Biden now coming out of the primaries as the presumptive Dem candidate, made the time right for her. While we all have questions when one of these decades-old accusations comes up, any woman willing to put up with all of the crap that comes with making such an accusation deserves the right to be listened to. She's offered to make a statement under oath, presumably in a setting where Biden's attorneys could question her motivation. Seems pretty courageous to me, and deserving of being heard. It could turn out that her accusations break down under questioning. It could be that it's simply too long ago and there isn't any way to get to a final conclusion. Maybe she's very credible and the Dems decide that Biden needs to be dumped. Any of those scenarios seem better to me than just moving into the fall campaign with this accusation hanging.

Wrong. The Democrat Party has openly become the advocate of the #MeToo movement. Some Republicans empathizing it doesn’t mean it’s part of their platform. Nowhere in this article does it bring up any prominent Republican. You show me any article where Republicans embraced the movement.
