OT Terrible cop joke

You're gonna call bullshit but you're not gonna answer the goddamn question.

You know, I would love to sit back and have a few adult beverages with you. I have to believe that we would agree on a lot of stuff. Some things we are not, but I think both of us would gain a better understanding of each others world view.

To slow the conversation down and remove all of the perceived biases and be able to focus on statements made in context would be a breath of fresh air.

So, lets slow this puppy down, What question do you want me to answer?

But it was NOT her thinking. She was thinking as a WHITE WOMAN that she was in danger of reaching for her phone.

There is nothing to suggest that she thought Blacks were the only ones getting shot. As a matter of fact there is plenty to suggest that was the opposite of what she was thinking.

A few women have recently been killed by police so its reasonable for her to have thought she might get shot.

There's no way around you saying this. Absolving the cop of any wrongdoing and blaming the lady. Stating it was her thinking.

My premise is simple. She presented a biased, arguably ridiculous behavior that he attempted to quell with her own thinking.

My simple question is:

If it was "her own thinking" then why did she fear for her safety with regard to using her phone?

Which indicates that she was concerned for her safety as a white woman and he didn't have to go there with the black thing because it was NOT her thinking.

I am still trying to get your point. Seems basic to me. Her thinking, her beliefs her perception of reality influences her actions. Period.

So, to take it a step further..

One might ask who is controlling her? Dunno, man, space aliens?

Or does the heavily negative media along with popular social media control her? Hmm, influence yeah, but still I believe that she is a self sentient being, able to fully function if eve at a minimum of standards, based upon her reaction.

How is it her perception when she's white? You're not making sense. It's the COP who brings race into the equation. She as a white woman fears for her safety... I'm not sure why you're not getting this.

A few things:

Picking MY cotton? Wow... Slaves always picked Massa's cotton. We never owned any.... And Eli Whitney stole the idea of the cotton Gin from us.
It's spelled sepArate.

Jim Crow.

Now answer the question:

If she believed only black people get shot by police then why did she fear for her safety with regard to using her phone?
I know its jim crow but i said jim po as in the po po. It was a really funny poorly timed joke. Kind of like the one this thread is about.

I am still trying to get your point.

His point is that "her belief" was that any movements to get something (like a phone) in front of a cop can be dangerous, no matter who you are (considering she was white) so the cop's joke about only shooting black people didn't say anything about her belief (which was clearly not about race). The cop was the one who made it about race.

See how easy that was to comprehend?

Right, thats what im saying

Crickets...

Great post M. He'll listen to you.

But no, let's argue with the black guy, because you know, his perspective on race really doesn't matter much anyway... We define racism in this country...

I can be your reverse anger translator.

Not that I think you're overtly angry. I just thought that was a funny image.

Neat theory

What the fuck ever dude.

I have to deal with some SERIOUS stupidity on this forum. MFs actually giving this cop a pass and saying it was the lady's thinking...
The cop was an idiot. Trying to think of an explanation is a normal reaction.

I think the cop probably hears about it every time he talks to people. Maybe he is a good cop, don't know.

Maybe he is fed up with hearing about it. How do they prove they are a good cop?

NOT killing anyone?

I think the cop confused her fear with black lives matter and thought she was being stupid.

I haven't been pulled over in 15 years and I distinctly remember putting one hand on the wheel and one on the door frame by the mirror.

It used to just be common sense.

Oh and you're right about a LOT of stuff in this forum. Don't care. The theory that black people are to be deferred to in this discussion should only apply to what you've experienced. Everyone should be able to have an opinion otherwise.

I can't argue with you about your experience.

Who the fuck said you couldn't have an opinion? Where are you getting that from? I was referring to my thoughts being ignored.

I think the key would be having an informed opinion...

The part about black people getting to define racism.

I don't ever ignore your thoughts. I just don't always agree with them.

Plus, we all talk about tons of shit we're not well informed on.

Naw..got tied up at work. Actually, had you elaborated your position as well as he did, there would have been little confusion.
