Read the room. You aren't witty, and in most cases you are so uninformed that you don't even qualify for a charitable placement.

Nice verbiage, dude. Read the room? Heh, good one. I think I have a pretty good grasp on what the audience stands for in these parts. Nonetheless, while a stark minority, I'm unfazed. not. going. anywhere.

Oh, so now we just have "marriage", not marriage.
Whatever happened to feed the hungry?

Plenty of people live together without being married. I was simply clarifying for Sly since he asked the question.

Did you ask me to approve your marriage? Do I get to vote on whether straights should be allowed to marry?

You can start a petition to try to get a bill passed to enact heterosexual marriage illegal.

So technically, if you wanted, you can vote on any marriage as well. I thought I read an article that said there was a county that outlawed all marriage if they were going to outlaw gay marriage?

I mean, she could, but she doesn't strike me as a bigoted person.

Do you support that?
Sex before marriage is ok, but not being married?

I'm not a Catholic. But, nonetheless, I wouldn't believe in any same-sex "marriage", even if it were conducted on a beach in Tahiti.

But what about other church things like baptism? communion? Do you believe gays should be allowed to participate in those?

I have no desire to outlaw straight marriage. What straight people do isn't my concern. As long as they don't shove it down my throat.

Why would anyone start that petition. It makes no sense just like it makes no sense to start one to outlaw gay marriage.

A gay couple getting married doesn't change what marriage means for you. It doesn't effect you or hurt you.

It also doesn't effect your stance with your god, and your ability to get into heaven, which confuses me. Don't agree with same sex marriage, don't do it. But as far as I know there's no prothelityzing requirement in the bible, that, not only can you not do it, but you need to make sure someone else doesn't do it as well.

Doesn't the Bible say not to judge others too

With much less fanfare Texas just passed another law outlawing medical abortion after seven weeks and again authorizing bounty hunters.
A Texas legislator proposed abortion be legally treated like murder, with death penalty.
I have noticed right to lifers love death penalty.

is it okay to feel a flipside though? Is it so wrong for straight people to feel the same on the reverse? And if so is it that off base to think that some of those feel the lgbtq movement is indeed pushing it down their throat?

Please dont get me wrong Crandc, when i say i have no issue with fair rights and choices. No one should be treated differently for thier companionship preference within consenting adults.
But i have had several occasions first hamd where a blatant flaunting of ones preference was fairly offending to me. Like once when i was standing in line at a club and a gay man came up and grab my ass Nd said I'm fine as they continued to walk by while looking back with a smile.
Offended in a wtf? Way. Not like, he needed to die way. :)

anyhow. I sometimes wonder if some peoples pushback of the lgbtq movement is because they feel it is being shoved down thier throats?

im not saying i agree with anything other than just trying to shine light on another potential angle as to the reasoning behind some peoples stance and/or opinion.

I know the instance i had, along with a couple other smaller ones, had left me feeling like if anyone is pushing themselves on anyone, its them who have pushed on me.

I guess my point is i think there is a large number of people who dont care who sleeps with who, but dont want to hear about if just the same and some feel its all gay this and gay that And get annoyed by it.
They don't care one way or a other and frankly don't want to hear about it because they already believe in equal rights for all?

I say this without full knowledge of all laws in all states but as far a i know, straight people do not have anymore rights than gay people? Gay people can vote, run for office, hold high level positions in government, etc.

Yes it’s true. I’ve had sex. I swear. I had sex with my underwear!
FTFY!

im not saying it does. I was just referencing the choice that is available if one so decided to take such a stance. The equal opportunity is there if so desired.
Freedom of choice.

Would you have been just as offended if it were a woman who grabbed your ass?

Depends on how attractive to me she was? Lol

no in all seriousness yes.
Its happened. Im not a touchy person. Most unexpected touches make me jump regardless.
With that said offended may mot have been the best choice of words. mildly violated?

it wasn't a reaction of get that person! Or call the cops! Or i now need a shrink to get over some homophobia, it was more of a surprised, damn man? Wth?

Woth that said im pretty sure its still safe to say due to percentages alone that its safe to assume most people are straight. So i would think it a little more natural to grab an ass of the opposite sex without fear of the person being of a different sexual orientation.
I think my main thought was. How can he just think im gay? Im in line at a rock club. Not a gay bar. I suppose the biggest offense was his assumption that i was gay and would be a accepting of it. It wasn't the ass grab itself but the thought that he felt he could just do that without knowing for sure if i swing that way.

Again, because you CAN do something doesn't mean it's moral...

No one has the right to put hands on another without consent (except in obvious emergencies). Putting hands on another has zero to do with gay rights. It is assault.
And women go through life with men assuming it's OK to touch us. Grab, grope, leer, make filthy remarks, vulgar noises. Pinch our nipples, pat our asses, grab our crotches.
When on vacation this week I met a friend for dinner. The server addressed me as "young lady". I am 67. I pointed out I have not been a young lady for a good many years. He then patted me on the shoulder. Because men have inherent right to pat dogs and women.
You say straight people do not have more rights than gay? In 29 states it is completely legal to fire a person solely for being gay. No other cause needed.
I rest my case.

This is tough but I get it. Actually I know that I don't get it. But I'm not sure how else to convey what I mean. I've also had women grab me, and had inappropriate advances by men. But I'm also not much smaller or physically capable as most women compared to men, so I was never threatened in the way that I can imagine most women would be.

I grew up patting shoulders of people as a show of support and friendly affection. Not just women, but anybody. In fact, nearly always men or female family members.

Someone at some point conveyed to me that touch was a way to help comfort a person and express friendship.

Several years ago, while having a tough conversation with a woman, I gave her (what I intended as) a reassuring pat on the shoulder (not multiple pats or a linger or anything) and could just tell it was not appreciated.

Never done it since.

The assholes who abuse the social construct for their perverted goals ruin it for everyone. It immediately made me feel terrible. The realization that she had, no doubt, been touched in inappropriate ways in the past and made to feel uncomfortable or possibly violated was at the same time horrifying and disappointing. Nobody should be made to feel like that.

It made my honest attempt at friendly comfort weird and unwanted. Hence, also inappropriate.

Not sure why I bring it up now, but it's been bothering me for years. I hope it's not something she remembers in a negative way.
