From the article:

I took it upon myself to understand Trump, and his supporters. What I found was millions of great Americans who had been disenfranchised, normal people like you and I, who did not recover from the Great Recession. They’re pissed off about Obama Care, endless wars, trade deals that have killed jobs, higher taxes, a rigged economy–and, they are not wrong.

Had Democrats taken the concerns of average American seriously, especially the concerns of Millennials, they would have quickly realized Hillary Clinton was not the right nominee for the Democratic party in 2016.

There you go. Couldn't have said it better myself.

The media prevented any kind of discussion on values, and instead focused on rhetoric and propaganda. So most Americans who immediately defaulted to what the media and Clinton campaign told them never took the time to actually get to know Donald Trump.

Yep! There you go. And you all bought into it, because morons like Cher, Lady GAGA, the Kardashians, and Miley Cyrus told you that it was the "hip" thing to do.

At the end of the day, this is an opportunity to learn and grow and consider another world view. This is a wakeup call to get out of safe spaces, politically correct thinking, shatter echo chambers, and challenge yourself to consider the other side of the fence. This is an opportunity to reach out and truly learn to understand each other.

I have strong doubts that this will happen....but I guess I remain hopeful.

After all....I had doubts that Trump would win....and...well....

By looking at those numbers, what is wrong with the liberals? This was their moment. Their chance to serve up a death blow to conservative America. The evangelicals knew what was at stake. How come this group didn't? You can't tell me if they were willing to go all out and vote for Barack Obama that they couldn't do the same for Clinton. You may not like her. But she is your chance to transform this nation for good and to deal a death blow conservativism. Weren't they aware that as many as four supreme court justices could be nominated in the 4 to 8 years? I mean I thought this group was smarter than them hicks from the country? They got their butts handed to them in this election and they deserve everything they get. They could have ended traditional America and they didn't. If they were as passionate at the voting booth as they were on the streets this evening, they wouldn't be worried about America as they know it now.

Just a head scratcher.

They fell into the same trap that elite conservative teabaggers did when Obama was elected. Let me explain...

Remember how fed up this country was with Bush and his administration, and the idiots who blindly supported him? That ushered in Barack Obama as the most popular president of our decade.

Well, for the past 8 years, there have been elitist Liberals in the media bullying anyone who doesn't goose-step to their way of thinking, and their followers ate it up by the pound and threw it at their fellow unwashed masses. It enabled them, and taught them that rioting, looting, flipping cars over, burning the flag, and setting fire to dumpsters was an acceptable way of protest just because their feelings were hurt.

So just like America got sick of the "rah rah rah" war drum of Bush and his followers by the time 2008 rolled around, so America has once again gotten sick of the bullying, cry-baby safe-space "triggered" PC crap that has controlled this country for the past 8 years.

People got sick of it. So Liberals didn't learn from history. They didn't look back at past unpopular presidents/presidential candidates and learn from history about how and why they failed. And as the old saying goes, it has repeated itself once again.

Bush's lack of popularity at the end of his administration had more to do with the wars, horrible economy, and ridiculous gas prices. But there was still a monumental amount of elitism that had ruled his administration, as well as his fan base.

And now Liberals have suffered the same fate; albeit under different circumstances. And that is what happens when you throw elitism and bullying in the face of your opposition; instead of extending a hand in friendship and unity.

But don't feel bad....it will happen again. It always happens; the scourge of elitism. Trump won't last forever, and this current Republican party still feels the sting of what Bush did to this country, and how badly they lost in 2008.

I can only hope that they've learned from past mistakes.

But the question is.....will Liberals, Leftists, and Democrats learn from this failure?

That remains to be seen.

You know why I'm happy?

If you still don't GET IT, then I can't help you.

My right to marry who I want is secondary to actually running the country. I'll live. Social issues should ALWAYS be secondary to running the country. My right to marry whom I want doesn't put food on the table, gas in my car, money in my retirement, and clothes on my back.

My right to marry who I want doesn't keep Russia from getting in a war with us because the bitch I would have elected (who, according to you, I should have voted for because she's a democrat and I'm Bisexual) wanted a No Fly Zone in Syria.

My right to marry who I want doesn't bring jobs back from China.

My right to marry who I want doesn't stop possible ISIS members and uneducated, unskilled people from coming here by the hundreds because of open doors and a broken immigration system.

My right to marry who I want doesn't keep violent criminals from a 3rd World Country on our southern border from coming here and committing crime.

My right to marry who I want isn't a Constitutional Right. My Right to Keep and Bear Arms IS.

There's far more at stake than Social Issues. But for the last 8 years, you people have lost sight of that. So get ready to be reminded in January that this country is about so much more than your social feelings.

LMAO....I'm Bi, so I have to vote Democrat. Congratulations; now you know why I DIDN'T.

You can sacrifice your rights and vote against your own self interests if you want. Social issues are secondary in your eyes. Not ours. There's still lots of opression that people seem willing to ignore. Running the country for all of us means these issues shouldn't be secondary.

People ignored them for decades. People had jobs. They had shit to do. Doesn't make it right but at least it was understandable. The future in the course we've been on is everyone is equally miserable.

I didn't vote against my own self-interests. I voted the best choice, out of two shitty choices, of what I felt was best for AMERICA. Someone who's not a career politician, PC, anti-gun, and elitist. It's about time we had such a candidate. I'm sorry your candidate wasn't such a person.

My candidate got SHAFTED by the candidate I DIDN'T vote for. My candidate would've TROUNCED yours in the general.

I'm not so sure about that. Bernie's economic policies of taxing the shit out of everyone in sight was batshit crazy.

Mind you, I have nothing against the guy. Quite the contrary, I admired his respectfulness and polite demeanor.

But what might have worked out fine economically for his one state, would have been a disaster for the entire country.

How, exactly, is a Manhattan billionaire not an elitist? Trump convincing you people that he's "the every man" is the biggest con job ever, and you fell for it.

Really?

I agree he can be a bombastic asshole. But there's no comparison, in my opinion, between the elitism of someone like Cher, Hillary, Miley Cyrus, or Lady Gaga, and that of Trump.

Trump tells you he's an asshole, shrugs off your counter insult, and then tells you to deal with it.

Lady Gaga will call you an asshole, and then get offended if anyone calls her one too.

That's the difference.

But you make an interesting argument to be sure.

Amy Schumer is example numer one. She makes hideous sex jokes and then got butthurt about some guy making one about her that he thought she would like. I'm sure I could find the story if I cared.

Actually, I just read a rambling, hate-filled letter of hers on Yahoo about her reaction to the election. You're right: she's number one. Despicable woman.

Lady Gaga isn't running for President. The parallel is a very odd one.

Not the same situation.

Obama, The Elitists and Globlalists had this country as we knew it on the ropes. I come in here ever so often to see comments DEATH TO THE GOP. It's not like this doesn't cross minds of the liberal. So why didn't they put THAT America away? This was their moment. This was their chance. Their chance to remake this country exactly how they envision it. They didn't do it! I believe firmly with the younger generation, they had the numbers. I don't get why the liberal establishment wasn't on the same page. People who are rioting and protesting on the streets of Portland have no one to blame but themselves. So QUIT already!

They may never get another chance ever again if Donald does what he says he is going to get a chance to do, to appoint 4 supreme court justices. They're toast.

And this sums it up. People need a "liberal" once in a while to remember why they don't want what they're peddling.

“Trump took advantage of 30 years of job losses, flat wages, rising insecurity, and the industrial working class’s feeling that the system doesn’t work anymore,’’ said Leo Gerard, president of the United Steelworkers union, based here. “The attitude was: ‘Why not take a chance?’ ”

Clinton/Obama 16 of the last 24 years

http://www.thedailybeast.com/articl...aw-the-economic-crisis-the-others-didn-t.html

In the coming months, we'll hear about how the democratic system failed. The reality is that it worked. In debate after debate, candidates exposed themselves not only as unprepared to deal with Americans' quite rational economic perceptions, but as ignorant of them.

Clinton was the last woman standing until she, too, fell to the self-professed billionaire from Fifth Avenue who saw what no one else saw. No one, that is, but the voters. Be angry and frustrated that Trump will be our next president, if you will. But be angrier and more frustrated at the elites whose eight-year vacuum created him.

Snort. Gee...I can't IMAGINE why I didn't vote for your candidate with people like you supporting her....

Wait a minute....I thought it was TRUMP who was "anti-women"?

Oh yeah....Trump is anti-women alright.......

When your President goes to the White House lawn to tell the world that your beloved Clinton has bowed out to Trump.....

Yes, that's an ACTUAL photograph of the White House staff listening to Obama tell the nation about Hillary's defeat.

Beautiful, isn't it?

There's a lot of interesting ways to speculate why why Trump was elected, but when I look at the numbers, to me to me it seems it was simply that Clinton did not excite her base enough to get out and vote. Trump actually got less votes than Mitt Romney did in 2012. And I don't think Mitt was exactly a set the world on fire canidate, the republican base just backed their guy. Clinton got 5 million less votes than Obama did in 2012. So to me, that indicates the issue was more that people didn't want to vote for Clinton.

There's also a non-insignificant number of Obama voters that backed Trump; particularly in the rust belt states.

Obama promised "Hope & Change" and people in those places got neither. Add in Clinton's establishment, "4 more years of the same bullshit" message and it starts to make more sense -- People are tired of corruption and feeling that that the system is rigged against them. So tired they'd be willing to back a loose cannon like Trump (who is a vile human being), but he's an outsider.
