Man, I wish I woulda spent $500 for a ticket to sit out in the wind and rain drinking an $11 bud light surrounding by drunken assholes instead of watching the game in my warm living room on my huge TV drinking my own pepper-infused vodka bloody mary.
Boy I feel dumb.

Pepper-infused vodka bloody marys?!?!

Why didn't you invite me over?!?

Just an update. I'm doing something way more entertaining than watching the game..

Taking a nap. Sweet dreams!

Wait so the Timber’s been around since 2009? Wasn’t the old Timber’s like the equivalent to the winterhawks?
That was the Timbers 2.0. The original Timbers were formed in 1975. They were put together in a matter of weeks from teams all over England. Most of the guys had never met each other until they hooked up in Portland. My then fiancé (now wife) and I were among the roughly 6000 people at the first game (though there are about 25000 people who make the same claim today) in weather not a whole lot different than today. They lost, but Portland’s reputation as Soccer City started that night. And for several years, Multnomah/Civic/PGE/Whatever It Is This Decade Park was jam packed (up to 32000 people with temporary bleachers installed) for every game for several years. The stadium was an incredibly rockin’ place during that time. The NASL was a big deal before it all fizzled out. But the original Timbers made the very first Soccer Bowl (where they lost unfortunately)……but it made for a kick ass road trip. Amazing how many fellow Timbers fans we saw on the way down. But it was a huge deal, especially since it was two years before the Blazers won the title. And it put little Portland on the map, soccer wise. The Winterhawks are amateurs. The old Timbers were some of the best soccer players in the entire world.

Okay i promise I’ll flick back and forth between this game and the South Dakota St vs Villanova FCS Quarterfinals.

Will someone let me know if the Timbers get at least close to putting the ball in the net

I remember it as Civic Stadium. I went to many Beavers and Rockies game there back in the day.

My junior year me and a few good buddies skipped school and went and saw a Mariners spring training game there. Mariners had Rickey Henderson that year. Afterwards we went to the Kingston and somehow got served beer. We thought that was pretty rad.

I remember as a youngster my uncle got assigned to Triple A to the Albuquerque Dukes (Dodgers affiliate) because he had bad verdigo. All our family came to watch him play against the Beavers. He gave up 3 home runs in one inning. The next day he announced his retirement.

Ive been to dozens of PSU Vikings games there. A few OSAA football championships and various other games.

I haven’t been there in years. Probably wouldn’t recognize it these days.

I'm really liking this infused vodka thing.

I did a tb of cracked peppercorns in a .5 gal of Svedka. Killer for bloody Mary's.

Also did blackberries and raspberries in smaller bottles. Terrific with tonic etc.

But I digress. There really isn't that much time to talk between exciting plays.

Does that turf grow or what?

Just a small suggestion but soccer would be a lot more exciting if all the players had paintball guns.

NY really seems to like Portland's field because they sure roll around on it a lot.
