does summer league really accomplish anything for players or teams?
Think of SL as an extension of the Draft Combine. The majority of players there aren't actually under contract to teams. It's a cattle market where reps from leagues all over the world come to scout. Yes, WE only care about our rotation guys, but that's a small fraction of what's really going on. And for us fans it gives us a chance to fall irrationally in love with bench players and get mad when they never get minutes in the regular season (I'm looking at you, Jabari).

to be fair, jabari is likely gunna be better if he got consistent minutes

good summary

I'm sure every once in a while a hidden gem s found in SL. Mostly I'd think it would just be 13th-15th players like Reath and Minaya

have the Blazers given him his Q.O. yet? I haven't heard. Quite a few deadlines are approaching:

Walker and Rupert deadlines are tomorrow

I'm assuming there's a good chance that Reath will be released unless his salary is needed ballast for a trade or Ayton & Timelord are traded

Any way you can market the NBA they will.

The in season tourney and probably expand playoffs before long like the NCAA round ball tourney.

I am anxious to see if Cissoco has improved his 3pt shot. If he can, then I think we've got another cheap rotation player. Good defender at the wing position. Still only 21 and a bit of a late bloomer. The downside is that he might be a duplication of Rupert, and we probably can only afford one of them long term.

I learned my lesson from Jerryd Bayless
That guy was one of my favorite players. I thought he was going to be something. He actually had some decent years in the league, though.

Batum was awful in summer league and played well his rookie year. That was a moment for me where I stopped taking summer league too seriously.

This will be interesting to watch. If Reath is kept, that might signal they feel confident they can move one or two of them by the deadline.
He is a good, cheap, 3rd string center option.

I wonder if they see Walker and Reath as a duplication? According to Blazers.com they are listed as the same height and only 7 lbs difference. Maybe they keep one but not both?

Fuck! I want to see Flagg but I don’t get there until the 12th. I doubt Flagg will play more than one game.
I'm going to try to go this year, but I don't understand the ticket situation. Do you have a link and advice on getting tickets? Do I have to buy individual game tickets? Is there a package I should get?

Glad to hear that it sounds like Yang Hansen will be on our summer league roster. I hope Caleb Love plays as well. I assume he will.

Two years ago when I went but I believe it was one ticket for the whole day. No assigned seats - so go early or go to the prior game if you want to sit closer. Probably will be people on this site here so might be able to hold seats for each other.

Also bigger names only play 1 or 2 games, usually the first ones. I saw Wemby but he didn't play any of the games after.

I'll tune in to watch Yang and Rupert. Don't have interest to watch guys that won't play during the regular season.

Crazy to think two years ago we had Scoot/Sharpe/Walker/Rupert/Murray/Duop/Keon all on our summer league roster.

Year prior was pretty stacked too... we won the title!

Are they practicing yet? Do we know who else is on the team?

I wonder if Jabari will show up on some SL team. I saw somewhere that he's deleted his Instagram account - hope he's okay.

He's definitely worth a roster spot. Generally always productive. Definitely better than Murray or Rupert.

Portland Trail Blazers

  • Sidy Cissoko – Portland Trail Blazers (Two-Way Contract)
  • Caleb Love – Arizona (Two-Way Contract)
  • Andrew Carr – Kentucky
  • Justin McCoy – Hapoel Be'er Sheva (Israel)
  • Sean Pedulla – Ole Miss

I'll play if they're still looking for bodies.

Are we more excited (less unexcited?) about Cissoko or Rupert? I'm going with Cissoko, although I'm happy for Rayan to surprise me.

When healthy Carr is nice.

Here is the deal with summer league. It won’t happen, but MMMBop should touch the ball every time on offense
If the roster listed here is what we're rolling with, Yang and Ruper should be focal point. The others however are auditioning so they will look for their own shots
