THE BLAZERS' FAIRY TALE LOOKS TO BE ENDING

He named Rudy, Sergio, Jerryd, and Travis. All four have commented to the press about being mis-used, un-used, or just plain used.

Every player wants more minutes. That's hardly newsworthy. The only one of the four that ever asked to be traded is Sergio, and thank god for that. We're better off without his whiny, can't shoot, turnover prone, no defense playing ass.

It's hard to argue against his main point that this team is so stacked that there are not enough minutes to keep everyone happy, especially a vet who won't figure into our long range plans.

But I see that as our salvation, since aging vets are why we blew up the team and we should avoid them at all costs. If only someone else in the league had wanted Miller, he would have told KP no and we'd be better off for it.

Overall a pretty accurate analysis of how players view the Blazers in the sense of employment opportunity. Not favorably at all. The author weakens his view by inserting character opinions which may or may not be accurate.

Funny. I always assumed we blew up the team because we had a massive collection of malcontents and no-talent, ass-clowns.

Wrong.

All four have at least hinted or alluded to maybe that's what needs to be done unless they get minutes or Nate changes his M.O..

Travis nearly demanded a trade a year ago, Rudy is so upset at Nate's slowball and not being used properly that he talked Rubio into avoiding the NBA for awhile. Bayless has already said several times he needs to "find the right situation". With Webster back, there will be others this year.

When you assume, you make an ass out of yourself.

I think that's how it goes...:dunno:

But seriously, that's what most available vets are.

Malcontents with issues nobody wants.

If you're going to call me an ass just go ahead and take the passive aggressive bullshit out.

Claim ignorance if you like, it only shows you don't follow the team very close. All were published in the Big O. Travis last summer, Rudy and Jerryd this summer. They were discussed in threads here, and in Travis's case on BBF.

Portland doesn't treat its players right??? Are you kidding me? They have a state-of-the-art practice facility, their own private jet, more coaches than you can throw a stick at, and a megabucks owner who has their cars washed for free while they're working out.

Not to mention the fact that the players are practically worshipped by an adoring fan base.

This guy has no clue whatsoever.

But you forgot the part where the Blazers bounce paychecks, have no health insurance and don't pay for overtime; they're practically the Wal-Mart of the NBA :devilwink:

I don't get this article. Is the author saying that Portland used to be a place for Free Agents and ring-shoppers to come to, but now that fairy tale is over? Or that we're so ridiculously talented that guys like Bayless and Outlaw have a very good potential to be 9th-10th-11th-Man players getting 10mpg; and that that's a bad thing? My personal take is that having Roy signed through 2014-15 means that there's at least 6 more years of "fairy tale" basketball to be played...especially with the potential to have both LMA and Oden signed for the next 6-7 years as well.

To be fair, the author did a great job of putting a negative spin on every aspect of ambiguity that he could. I'm surprised he didn't talk about KP forcing Sarah Mensah to have "creative ticket pricing" this year, or his Jedi-like ability to make Larry Miller send emails doing his bidding. That egotistical prick KP only sets up 1 session a year with ABM and the crew at Hayden's. With all the penny-pinching the Blazers do, I'm surprised it's not at the local Burgerville. He's also single-handedly keeping Memorial Coliseum up and running, while stonewalling In-N-Out's efforts to break into the Portland market.

Where's the "burn the witch" smiley when you need it?

That article was craptacular! I loved it. I hope a few more writers jump on this bandwagon. Yes, it's over. We're heading back to the lottery. No one wants to be here. Muhahahahaha!!

None of that is the issue.

He's talking about how careers can stagnate or even die when a player can't get ample minutes.

He said Portland didn't have the player's "best interests" at heart, which of course they don't. They won't let certain players play enough minutes to further their careers, or play their natural position because we're stacked there. Nate wouldn't let Sergio and Rudy play the pace they excell at because they might have a TO once in awhile...From a player's standpoint being harnessed can destroy your game, throws your rhythm off bringing shooting slumps, more TO's not less, and helps your opponent outplay you.

Nobody wants to go to a deep team except someone who has nothing individually left to prove and just wants maybe 10 minutes a night and a ring.

Yes, I do follow the team closely. But, I tend believe facts, not your distorted view of reality.

If these so called trade demands were published in the Oregonian and discussed in the forums, you should have no trouble providing links to each and every one. So, either put up, or shut up. Until you provide links, I call bullshit.

All Maris has to do is show us the fines that Stern gave those guys for publicly asking to be traded.

Should be an easy Google search for Maris since he claims those trade demands were reported everywhere.

Talk about distorted view of reality.

Re-read my posts and please tell us all where I said that trade demands had been made? Nowhere. Not even Sergio demanded a trade, he simply requested one. As I already posted, the others were allusions or hints that their particular situations needed to improve OR ELSE maybe another team might be a better fit.

Travis wanted more touches, actually had a specific number in mind if I recall. Being an Allstar was one of his goals and you need stats to get there.

Rudy was/is very upset at how he was being mis-used/ignored by Nate and voiced it shortly after Sergio was traded.

Bayless dropped blatant hints in 2 different interviews recently when he was asked where he'd find minutes behind Blake and Miller.

So Ben from Blazersedge just linked to another one of Chisolm's articles that he wrote during the summer. All I can say is.....wow

When it all goes wrong

It's pretty clear that the guy has some sort of axe to grind with the blazers for some reason.

Here's the Bayless quote: During a visit to London as part of the succesful Adidas NBA 5 United Tour, the 21-year-old told 24/7 all he needed was the right situation to prove he belonged on the court.

"When I got in the game last season, I know I showed I could play," he said. "So it's about getting to the right place where I can play consistently or maybe play with the Blazers consistently. That's what I'm looking forward to, just getting a chance somewhere."

Reading comprehension troubles for you also?

Sergio didn't request a trade, his European agent did in an interview to a Spanish newspaper and Sergio publicly said he never said anything like that to his agent.

Last week at the PF tour I asked Bobby Medina about Rudy and he said Rudy really hit the rookie wall last year. Which is what I thought had happened. Playing in the Olympics and then his 1st NBA season he was gassed the second half of the season. Do you remember Rudy running his man off of screen after screen after screen the first half of the season? He wasn't doing that the 2nd half. He wasn't ignored by Nate. Nate used Rudy tons in 4th qrt last year. Rudy hit some big shots for us. He may have not played as much as he wanted but that was more because Nate valued what Rudy could do for us.

Travis said those things last year, then once again he showed up to training camp not in shape. This year is the first season he's really gotten himself ready to go before training camp.

Bayless, who cares. Honestly, who really cares? Right now he is #4 on the pg depth chart. He has a chance to learn from and practice against Roy, Miller and Blake. He could be in much worse situations.

He had a chance last year, a huge chance. Blake was out with an injury. The team didn't look good when he started. He'll have chances this year. As a team the Blazers have upgraded their pg rotation, if Bayless' playing time suffers because of that, oh well. It's not about what is best for him, it's about what's best for the team.

I'm curious to what our resident Raptors fans think about the article, since the author is a Raptors blogger. Is this the consensus among our friends to the north? Is the author one of the pot-stirring guys? Does he have legit articles about his own team, or other teams he follows closely? I find it odd that in his write-up of Hedo he didn't mention a single time Hedo's wife, or that Hedo actually had agreed to a contract. Perhaps all it took was "one call" from BC. But that seems to be shoddy "reporting", deliberately leaving out things that make your argument look stupid if you don't.

I don't see anyone asking to be traded in that quote - he just wants to play consistently. Big surprise, the rookie didn't get consistent PT and wants to play more. That's pretty much universal and a lot different than demanding a trade.

Gotta stop you right there.

We all know that Hedo's wife wasn't a factor. :tsktsk:

All she'd get is garbage minutes. Only Bayless would have played less than her, so let's move on.

So you really do suffer from comprehension disabilities! :sigh:

Now I feel awful for teasing you about it earlier.

As I have already said, we're not discussing "demands", that's your word, not mine.

Let me try to help you. Just sound out the words one at a time.

But what is KP doing that we are not seeing that is earning these hits from writers? I think his press is worse than Trader Bobs was and Bob was an asshole. Just ask Dwight Jaynes.
is this the same insightful Dwight Jaynes who wrote about how the Rockets were the best matchup possible for the Blazers in round 1 of last years playoffs??? Dwight is a lazy, bitter, pot-stirring boozebag contrarian. Just ask half of this board filled with Blazer hoop junkies who've endured his white noise for the last 20+ years
