The "Blazers suck" thread

I wasn't speaking to you specifically. I just think the whole banning thing is completely useless if you allow him to come back and start the same tired shit over again just by changing his username. He'll just get banned again, come back and start all over ad infinitum. Why even pretend to ban him when the ban is meaningless? He didn't reinvent himself, he just came back under a new username.

Fine, if he gets to circumvent the rules so do I. I didn't call him an asshole, I called his persona an asshole. I didn't attack the person, I attacked the persona - which you just said is judged independently of the person behind the persona. Rudy may be a saint in real life, but his current and past personas suck.

So I'm genuinely curious, do you think we should re-ban as soon as we figure out who the person is?

Should we have a poll and see what the people think?

Personally, I would re-ban but that's not how some people think. I just want to know how the board feels about it.

Sometimes banning works, sometimes it doesn't. In Mixum/Carlito's case it appears not to be working. In PapaG/Yoda In The MODA's case it has worked. I think it's important to always encourage ways for people to come back to this community.

A poll would be great. Make sure to make it private so the innocent are protected! ;)

I was about to say how is it a personal attack when that person you called an asshole isn't even here. Hell, even carlito says he is not mixum. So I can call the banned "mixum" a piece of shit poster that should never be allowed to post here again. ;). Who are we attacking really?

It's more about other members seeing personal attacks on here and accusing the mods of not applying the rule evenly and fairly. We have to keep it black and white, no personal attacks.

That's not it at all. What is not tolerated are personal attacks. I have negative opinions about the team, I have positive opinions about the team, but if you're going to start screaming "blow it up" after the first game of the season, you're going to get a lot of shit about it.

That is confusing, you will not tolerate personal attacks, but blow it up will get you a lot of shit?

I suppose a post of "we have the best big three in the league" will get you a rep.

Golly, diehard rabid fanatics only need apply.

Well, it's attacking the post, so yes.... it's fine. And if someone posts that we have the best big three in the league, that person is kingspeed and that person isn't taken seriously anyway because he was also posting to blow it up.

Thank you for providing clarity.

To me it's pretty cut and dry. If they come back under a different username and IMMEDIATELY start exhibiting the EXACT same behavior that got them banned in the first place, they should be re-banned and their IP address blocked.

They should not be allowed a fresh start with a new allotment of temporary bans. They should be held accountable for their previous offensive behavior.

And if they didn't learn their lesson and keep right on behaving in the same manner that got them banned, they should be immediately banned again. I'm all for giving someone a fresh start - if they deserve it. The ban was justified and deserved. He shouldn't get an infinite number of "do overs" just because he can change his username and blatantly lie about his identity.

Gonna have to say I agree with this. I'm really against perma bans, but in this case, mixum doesn't want to bring anything but his old antics.

Oh shit. I meant to give Carlito a 24hr ban but with the time change he might have gotten a 25hr ban instead. I feel really bad about that.

I think carlito has been around for a while without doing too much trolling. But since he was outed lately, again, he has gone back to the old MIX. I'm fine with what Sly did, even if he IS a ball- less bitch.

I don't like permanent bans, even for idiots. They do take away from the forum but, personally, I can live with it. That said, if most here want permanent bans, I won't lose any sleep over it.

If we are going to do a poll, my vote is that your name shows up with how you voted.

As far as pressure to conform, I just don't see it. There are lots of posters that were down on Wes, and didn't even get any crap when Wes started playing better. Personally, I tend to be more of a homer, but I don't get fired up when someone calls out a player that's not playing well....but I'm not as patient with the 'trash, garbage, piece of shit' talk.

You're pulling a Nicola Batum there!

Re: Can you feel the mediocrity tonight?

I never got what the big deal was about mixum. So he complains a lot...it's not like he's saying inappropriate things or attacking people...if you don't like his posts, ignore him.

Just ban the poor bastard and get it over with. Way too much analyzing of this loser.

I agree with The Sly Poke Her Dogg and his approach to this. IMO Carlito wasn't as disruptive as the posters constantly calling him out as 'mixum'. He did get progressively worse after being outed, but you have to admit he was also being consistently baited. There seems to be a pervasive opinion that he does not come her to discuss, but to disrupt. Maybe that's true, in which case, there is probably a perma-ban in Carlito's future. I'm OK with that if it comes to it. Maybe he's just one of those tormented people who simply can't accept good news without fretting over every possible negative future? Or maybe he's a troll. IDK. I'm for second chances and letting the process and protocol work it out.

I agree, if he is taking away from your pleasure on the board, just put him on ignore. Most are pretty knowledgable Blazer fans around here and realize he is just throwing short sighted statement out there to try to push our buttons.

I actually think for a troll (if that is what he is) he is a pretty good troll. And he does follow the Blazers somewhat. He provides me much more reading entertainment than the Rube trolls who were clueless and rude.

Anyways, I don't ever remember him taking personal shots at posters. We are a good and strong enough forum to not let mixup have a big impact on the forum.

I say let him back . . . and ignore him. :)
