The Trail Blazers and Timberwolves are discussing a deal that would bring Portland free-agent forward Nicolas Batum to Minnesota in exchange for two future first-round draft picks and a veteran small forward acquired from a third team, a league source told ESPN The Magazine's Ric Bucher.

Bulls beat writers are speculating it could be us. We are talking Kyle Korver with the T-Wolves.

Minne says they will drive the price higher if we don't accept a deal.

Cool.

Cut and amnesty your players. And then we match, hopefully (unless we get a good deal).

yeah man, crank that bitch up to eleven! Ya ever play poker? Bitch, did ya? fk yeah hit me hahaha go ta fifteen...hey , I might call ya...

Um, how about Noah instead? And then sign Courtney Lee.

Why hasn't MIN made an offer to Batum? Olshey quipped: "It's called the Wrath of Kahn.''

I'm really liking Olshey.

I approve of this trash talking

Plus Kahn is a ridiculously easy target

Then the Wolves start working on a deal for Iggy, and Portland is overpaying Batum (who doesn't want to be there). Wolves lose nothing, Portland overpays Batum.

Portland only has to overpay for Batum if Minnesota signs him to an offer sheet

No offer sheet, Blazers don't have to match anything and can negotiate their own price

Olshey holds all the cards right now.

then portland signs minny's amestied players for vet. min.

Don't see how the "Wolves lose nothing."

nothing but the player they desire. The wrath of Kahn, that is kinda funny

But then Minnie would be over paying for Iggy. 15 million the second year? If he even chooses to opt in? You must not think much of Williams.

Nobody cares if Darko is on the team, and nobody cares if Portland signs him. Hell we're cutting Webster too, you want him back?

Any way you want to spin this, MN is playing with Portland's money.

Awesome. Thanks for playing.

God bless and goodnight.

Now go the f*** home!

The Blazers have all the leverage.

Facts are facts.

Spin away.

I'm a big fan of anybody who think David Kahn is a douche.

you match "HAHA YOU OVERPAID!!!"

they sign him "HAHA WE GOT HIM AT BARGAIN PRICE"

okaaaaaaay

Who the hell said it was a bargain price? Everybody understands we're overpaying him, as we have to because he's a restricted free agent and Portland can match. It wouldn't make too much sense to pay him what he's worth and have Portland match in two seconds, would it?

Exactly. Because Portland holds ALL the cards here.

Like it or not, facts are facts. :)

Minn has to waive 2 guys and amnesty a third to just get the money to offer Batum a contract our GM said we will match. How does Minny have any leverage at all?

Do you really needs a definition of what RFA means?

Really?!

That Portland can match an offer that Minnesota makes.

Minnesota is in negotiations to trade Ridnour for a non-guaranteed contract to clear space to make the offer sheet.

Please explain what cards Portland has?

All they can do is overpay Batum, then the Wolves go on their way and get a different player.

All those guys are gone anyways. They aren't going to pay the last year of that terrible contract you gave to Martell (500k buyout), Darko is worthless and doesn't even play, and Brad Miller is retiring.

If Minne didn't want Batum badly, they'd have already moved on.

And why the hell are you here?

Hawkey seems a tad slow.

I'll help you out, Chris.

restricted free agent is subject to his current team's Right of First Refusal, meaning that the player can be signed to an offer sheet by another team, but his current club reserves the right to match the offer and keep the player.

Owner Paul Allen and Neil Olshey have stated more than once that they WILL exercise their right to match any offer sheet.

Nic and his agent can cry all they want. He can be the saddest $48m player if he wants. *busts out little violin*

The leverage is the right to match any offer sheet, and they will.

You can bring up Ridnour/Darko/etc. but it's a moot point.
