My crazy prediction would be that Ayton is featured offensively to the point that he becomes an all-star.

Jokic, AD, Sabonis, KAT, Kessler, Wemby

I wonder what his numbers would have to look like to jump him over at least 4 of those guys; and how many games Portland would have to win

if they feature him more than Ant, he'll definitely score points. But he'd need to score a lot, rebound like a machine, and lead Portland to more wins than expected. Does seem just a little crazy

The knock on Ayton is that he only shoots when it's an easy score. He's more LaMarcus than Shaq. He's a comfortable mid-range scorer, but not the outside threat Lauri is.
He kept mentioning more grit this year and domination. He's going to be calling g for the ball as the veteran thats been decent in the playoffs. I like that he said that and hope he does call for the ball down low.

We trade Brogdon to LAC and get Batum back. Him and Rupert just throw lobs to each other the entire game. The French Connection.

Scoot sets the all time rookie assist record. Scoot to Ayton replaces Stockton to Malone as the primary assist making duo in the American vernacular.

My outlandish prediction is that we don't start Scoot or Shaedon to start the season and that we hover around just under .500 starting Brogdon, Ant, Matisse, Jerami and Ayton. Then we trade every starter but Ayton by the trade deadline and go even younger. We finish the season with just over 30 wins but our very young team shows a ton of promise even while losing.

do we get investigated for tanking?

He obviously won't surpass Jokic. I expect Wemby to have an adjustment period, and Kessler's game isn't the kind that generally gets ASG recognition (not beyond possibility though). AD would probably have to be injured (not unlikely), and KAT would have to struggle next to Gobert similarly to last year. If Ayton can go 22/11, I think he could get in ahead of Sabonis.

Wemby will be a complete bust Sam Bowie style. I feel good putting it in the outlandish claims thread but I do believe it.

Not unless we pull guys out of games that we have huge leads in and then tell the media it was so we could lose games. I think the comments in the Haynes article will come and go without an investigation. I think it takes really blatant shit like what the Mavs did and then said they did in the moment in order to get investigated.

Can someone correct this... But doesn't he just have a training camp contract? He's not yet signed with a full guarantee i thought?
I can’t remember who I was listening to, but they said the Blazers wouldn’t have brought him out at media day if he wasn’t making the team.

Plenty of times they've rolled out guys into media day and cut them a few weeks after camp.

My outrageous (maybe not that outrageous) prediction: Ant makes the AS game.

I think Ant should get 20 shots a game. Projecting a slight upticks to .460 FG%, 4 3PM, and 4 FTM, he will average 26-26.5ppg. I think he could be averaging around 6apg as well.

Last year’s AS: Doncic, Curry, SGA, Dame, Morant, Fox, Booker

This year, Dame is in the east. Morant will be serving a suspension. Curry is always a wild card given his health. Only locks right now are Doncic and SGA who will start as well as Fox who will be voted in. Curry is a lock if he’s healthy. So there could be 2 guards that can make the team as a wildcard or injury replacement.

If Ant averages 27/3/6 on .460/.400/.870 and we are somewhere around the 9th seed, he is at least a lock replacement imo. Other notable contenders at guard would be Murray, Kyrie, Beal, CJ, Smart, FVV.

Some of those guys like CJ and Beal may have their stats suppressed playing with notable scorers.

Bold: the Blazers youth movement is more talented then anyone imagined. Cronin actually adds win now players at the trade deadline, and the Blazers make the playoffs for 1st time in 2 years.

outlandish: Too many tough losses causes arguments and towel throwing in the Blazers huddle. Team meeting required.

crazy: the Blazers can't win anything. Rockets level rebuild. The team can naturally lose for a great rookie with no alterations to the roster. Maybe a few fringe moves to add more future picks.
