I mean, the punishment is having to pay Evan Turner 70 million after a season or two of disappointment lol that’s a pretty penny... but for teams looking to compete? It would be a godsend.The owners try to do the exact opposite in every CBA. Why would they want to pay a guy his full contract and then pay other players to get enough salary to field a team. This would cost the owners double in some situations.
The solution is to not sign players to stupid contracts to begin with. Teams shouldn't get off with little to no punishment for signing Evan Turner to $70 million.
It won’t happen, I know. I just wish there were ways to buy out players without cap penalty. ESPECIALLY in final year of their contracts.
