And this is what so many people seem to be missing. Trading LMA for the #1 does not equate to a 1:1 player swap. We aren't replacing LMA with an "unproven rookie". It also gives us a ton of money to sign a vet replacement, or make a lop-sided trade to bring in a replacement.Im against setting ourselves back 3-4 years. But if there is a way doing such a deal with only setting ourselves back let's say one year. I would probably do it. Like the idea of doing the deal and freeing up cap space. If that cap space could translate into Kevin Love. That's a two for one deal. This is fantasy of course.
If you can get Monroe, Pau, West, Boozer, or some other plug-in PF, in addition to the #1 draft pick, we won't see much - if any - of a drop-off next season and will likely have a much better future.
I agree that it's highly unlikely that we'll trade LMA. But if we do it won't be a "rebuilding" move like some seem to think it would be.
