So completely no. Kyrie didn’t play, Harden was hurt, and they made it to game 7 against champs. KD had one of the best series in the history of the game.

That's a take. I'm not arguing one way or another but his legacy has been challenged and his brand has been damaged. It's not coincidence.

Does Brooklyn even want Simons?

It would hard cap them. They might have to cut massive dollars or not take a full return for Kyrie. Plus they have to negotiate a deal with Ant, and if I'm Ants agent I'm pushing for mega dollars if it's a key part of a Durant trade.

I'm sure they would want Sharpe. But I could see the Nets being totally fine without Ant in a trade.

I would prefer to keep Ant but his new salary kind of makes it work. Plus when they lose Kyrie who will they have better? Simmons running the break feeding Simons and Sharpe is not horrible.

They have Ben Simmons maybe Patty Mills, who knows what PG assets in Kyrie trade. Plus do they even care about a PG next season if they're rebuilding?

Ant contract doesn't make the trade easier to do, it's BYC and hard caps them. Blazers could throw in Bledsoe or Ingels to match dollars.

I was already counting Bledsoe. So what is the most that could be used for Ant to make it close? The Nets need shooters to surround Simmons. Ant fits that description. Again I would prefer to keep him but if I were the Nets I would want him included.

As the #1 guy on a superstar-rich team, he underperformed, which is why his legacy has been questioned at the very least.
I just looked it up. Durant is the only NBA player EVER to average at least 34 & 9 with 51/40/87 shooting in one season’s playoffs. Only player EVER.

If the Blazers sign Sharpe then in 30 days he can be traded and his $6million salary matches in a trade.

Then the Blazers can send Bledsoe, Sharpe, Little, Winslow, and Keon to match Durant salary. Throw in 3 firsts and 3 pick swaps.

That keeps Simons out of a trade, who provides value to the Blazers but would create hard cap restrictions for Brooklyn they wouldn't want. That also allows Hart to stay with Portland who is more of a limited upside role player for a contender, not as helpful for a rebuilding Brooklyn team.

I'm pretty sure that would be the worst offer they'd get for Durant, unless they believe that Sharpe is somehow not only the best player in this draft but the best player in the past 3 or 4 years.

Name one team that can offer a top7 pick in the draft plus 3 future firsts and 3 swaps?

Most contenders don't have a ton to offer. Team still has to be able to contend after giving up assets for Durant.

Isn't the earliest we could off a 1st round pick in 2025? And that would take us removing current protections for the pick we gave to Chicago in the Larry Nance deal.

OKC. They own half the draft for the next 5 years.

And honestly, SGA might be a better partner for Durant than Dame anyway. :dunno:

Also it has to be a team that he wants to go to. I don’t know if he would join Portland.

Yes 2025 2027 2029 picks to the Nets plus swaps in 2024 2026 2028

I think Durant wants to boost his legacy and if he came to Portland and helped get us our first ring in nearly 50 years, that would do that.
Yeah I think you can rule out teams or stars that won a title, or made the finals. LAL, LAC, Boston, Milwaukee, Phoenix, GS. Durant isn't going to want titles discounted again as happened with him on the warriors.

Then of course you can rule out teams with no chance, Detroit, Orlando, NYK, Indy, Sacramento, Houston, Washington, OKC, Spurs.

I doubt he wants to go to Miami, Denver, Dallas, Philly, etc as either the franchise or current MVP level player gets the credit.

Dame is about the perfect player with a long history or being good enough to help but also a long history of not good enough to win titles. Blazers franchise don't have history of winning titles.

If Durant comes here and the Blazers win a few titles he will get more credit than other destinations.
