the one thing I'm unclear on is Bledsoe. His trade value to another team is 19M, but until July 11 that team can waive him and only pay 3.9M. But does Portland, in order to trade him, have that 19M count against their cap?

As I understand it from the article linked below, the value to the receiving team would be the full $19M, while the Blazers only get to count their side of his value at $3.9M UNLESS they increase the guaranteed money. I think this means that Bledsoe currently only counts as $3.9M against team salary.

I don't think that's the rule, at least not technically

the only rule is if you're hard-capped you can't cross the apron at any time, for any reason. You can sign as many players as you want, you just can't cross the apron.

in the example you gave, let's reduce it to a 5 for 1 trade, it would be Durant coming in, the 5 going out, and every roster slot above 12 left open would incur a roster charge of about 1M. That math would have to add up under the apron. So, the Blazers would have to increase their roster to 14 players (might be 13). Jabari walker would be signed for about the same as a roster charge. Then, the Blazers would have to complete their roster with minimum signings and still stay under that apron. If they couldn't do that the league office would veto the trade

Portland would have to guarantee enough of Bledsoe's salary to be able to receive compensation back.

For example:
Detroit/Portland
Grant goes into the TPE
Bledsoe ($19M) goes into Grant's salary slot (and only $3.9M is guaranteed)

Philly/Portland:
Thybulle goes into Roco TPE
Bledsoe cannot be traded to Philadelphia without the 76ers sending out a min of ~$14M in contracts.... so it would not be a legal trade.

Orlando/Portland
Bledsoe ($19m contract) can slot into Isaac's ($17m contract)
However - to recieve Isaac's $17M contract, Portland would have to send out ~$12M in guaranteed contracts. Therefore $12M of Bledsoe's $19M contract would be guaranteed.

The issue now is that Portland cant guarantee that much of Bledsoe's contract due to the hard cap

just once, i'd like for a team to trade one of these guys who demand out to non competitive shitholes.

(no that's not what Pop did with Kawhi. Toronto the city is awesome and their team still had a ton of talent after the trade).

I'm talking like trading Kyrie to Houston or OKC right now. Don't send him exactly where he wants to go.

Feels like suns are setting up to acquire KD

If the Suns are going to acquire KD can we help facilitate and get Bridges? He's probably the centerpiece sadly, but just wondering. Also, what about getting Simmons from the Nets. I don't understand how the hard cap and signings for Anfernee etc. work meaning if we can wait to sign him until after getting involved in a trade?

but none of those teams want anything to do with him.

I'm trying to think of some way to get Durant and still be hard capped....

It's just not possible if you can't send out Simons, and that can't happen until... January? Or you'd have to trade Dame. We can't match his salary.

I thought about sending out Bledsoe, but the problem is that even if you sent out Bledsoe and four other guys to match Durant's salary, we'd be sitting around $169 million. The hard cap is $157 million. I don't know how we'd make up the other $12 million.... not to mention I have no idea how we'd fill the empty roster spots. It's just not possible.

Fuck Durant's wishes. The OKC Thunder could offer 6 1st in the next 3 years. Send him there. The Nets don't owe Durant JACK! He hasn't been loyal for a decade.

Durant, Gilligan's Island, and the Chetster not bad.

If there's away to turn EBEC into Isaac, even if we had to throw in a couple bench guys, I say hell yes. He is the type of move we need to make to make a big leap forward. More length, defense, character, decent shooting and all around flexibility.

I would have a very difficult time rooting for Isaac. Think a lot of people in Portland would.

Also his contract is insane for all his question marks.

Also deal not possible due to hard cap.

Hart for Isaac might be workable though...

OKC would have to give up SGA. Nets want some sort of young star/All-Star plus draft picks and the sorts. I dunno man, unless it's a three-team trade (and even then), I just don't know of any team that'll be able to meet BRK'S demands. Maybe the Raptors, but I don't know.

Is it possible that both KD & KI could still end up playing for the Nets this coming season?
