For those that haven't actually read this proposal, here is a link.

Here's a summary...it's a complete joke. It's nothing but platitudes and baseless desires with nothing resembling a concrete plan.

It's like reading a highschooler's diary talking about their dreams and desires, with zero basis in reality or ways to actually accomplish those dreams. And then they grow up, get hit with reality, and live in their parents basement until they're 40.

Possibly because it is not intended to be a concrete plan, but rather a statement of goals.

an attempt to lead the party! lol
She's going to get Trump elected again and elite demos know this.

Sure, in the same way Pelosi was going to get Trump reelected again, remember that? Right up until she kicked his ass.

If you read the article the cord is pretty clearly powering the tractor. And the tractor is driverless. All in all, pretty cool.

Yes, I would say the cord is pretty clearly powering the tractor. A 10 gauge cord is good for about 30 amps. So can you tell us what the input voltage must be to power
the tractor under load of 100 KW?

Sure, but what's more relevant, I can do the research for you and tell you that:

Whilst in the fields, the tractor is supplied with direct current in the medium-voltage range (>6000 V DC) through the above-mentioned cable and this is then turned to 700VDC at the tractors onboard network

Thats a sprayer hose...they are not going to power a factor with 120volts, Toro has a battery driven tractor.

Well, let's hear it!!
Come on!

I don't need your help, but you need the answer to answer the next question.

Where is the farmer going to plug that sucker into? That is, once he figures out how to get that beast down the road to where the field is located.

Wait until Marazul finds out how diesel electric trains work.

I looked at a sweet little drive system for a sailboat. It had a 10 KW motor, running on 600 volts, and a max of 20 amps.
But I already had installed a neat little direct injected 4 cylinder diesel engine. I think it might be close to the most efficient made to date.
It averaged .7 gallons and hour coming up the coast last spring.

No it's not a sprayer hose! Learn the tractor, then post.

You should use this thing called a sail. I heard they're great on sailboats. Very green!

Very green!

Mine are mostly white, but I have one big Tanbark, and some colored Nylon.

The trouble coming up the coast, especially for a singlehander, is;
You are waiting in port for calm conditions, especially heading north as you are bucking both wind and prevailing waves as well as currents.
So then when you go, there is likely no wind, and you kind a need to make your next port on time with the tide so you can get in over the bar.
Some of these runs are an over night deal, and you don't want to tear you ass up with too many nights consecutive being a single hander with no relief.
The longer you go the worse your capabilities get, including your discretion and decision making.

Thank goodness for the efficient little Iron Sail.

lol....i never saw the article only a partial pic. I went back and read the article. Interesting, but a 100KW wow. They better do some peak shaving at certain times of the day.

I don't think you are thinking about this right. Uncle Bob is probably not going to replace his worn-out tractor with one of these. A big Ag outfit that can afford to invest in the infrastructure, amortized over a lot of land and multiple tractors, might. It's not impossible to get electricity to a farm.

That said, this is just a prototype, who knows if it will actually get built. Maybe a battery-powered robot tractor will work better - if it can robotically charge or change it's own battery pack, it won't matter if it can only go 4 hours on a charge.

Good thing about robots - they can plow the field just as well in the dead of night.

no as loud as a Cummins diesel.
It would probably be a lot cheaper to keep a bank of lithium batteries charged and using permanent magnet motors, than what the ac would cost over time. I know eastern region farmers peak shave with gen sets with the cost of kw hours goes up during certain hours of the day for irrigation.

True, but it ain't going to run that tractor loaded to 100 KW either. But I guess you didn't answer the question I gave you.

I did. The voltage they recommend is sufficient.

I will give you this;

I think it was rigged to roll to where the work might start, if a tender came along with it. Like a truck with a Genset providing the power. 7 KW will probably do the trick.

It's not even a statement of goals. It's just incredibly vague talking points written by someone that clearly has no clue how to accomplish anything. It's basically something for the socialists to circle jerk around without actually doing anything.

That seems to sort of defeat the purpose, doesn't it?

I think you must be unclear on the definition of 'goals'.

No.
In the real world, if someone creates a set of "goals" like this, they'll get laughed out of the room.

The equivalent would be Olshey outlining his vision for the team as: "build a team that wins as many games as possible". Cool story, bro.
