Well if guys like Adonal Foyle and Kwame Brown can get around $10million a year after they prove to be busts I think Oden will have a number of suitors in the $3 milliion range.

Oh he will get paid because there isn't a team that wouldn't consider taking a chance on him. If he ever was 60% or higher; he could still be a very dominant force.

Let's assume he gets this contract; which is 100% IMO. What's the forum opinion on how many games he will play before he's done?

I say 40 games in 2 years

I get he was in a tough position, but blame Oden for nothing? The guy never owned up to anything in my opinion. Always blamed everybody but himself. Stereotyped the Airforce as drunks. Blamed all his drinking on his cousin. Said he couldn't hack it in Portland because nobody held his hand. Fired his therapist because he thought the Blazers were getting info from him. Said he sent dong pics because he didn't want to be an asshole for not responding. Let his blind dog have access to an 8th story balcony. Can't understand why people want to take his picture.

You can't blame Greg for his injuries, and yeah he made some mistakes, but I can't say I don't blame him for nothing... he still did a real piss poor job of handling everything.

You must keep a thorough list of trivial errors. I better mind my Ps & Qs.

Under 10 regular season games. I really think 0, but I'll cover myself with 10. I don't think he'll get past preseason games.

I think you're angry at GO because he represented the final piece after a long rebuild. We were poised for greatness and it crumbled with Roy's and Oden's knees. I'm disappointed, too. It stings like hell three years later, but I don't blame Oden for it.
I was going to go here, but you just did. I understand people's frustration and disappointment. I share it, in spades. But I don't understand blaming the victim, and grasping at every weak, negative assumption about the victim along the way. Greg, by all accounts, was a good-natured guy. He worked hard, rehab after rehab, and worked with the trainers, to become the dominant basketball player everyone believed he would be. How many people here have gone through so many injuries, and so many rehabs, with so much at stake, and with the whole world watching and criticizing? Nobody? That's what I thought. As depressed and disappointed as we all were, every injury and missed season along the way, how depressed and disappointed must Greg have been? But Fuck Him, right? He ruined our dream. The bastard. It's all his fault. I hope he never has any success, anywhere. Right?

I haven't been through any of his injury shit; but I've had the entire community and family at work expect a lot from me. I understand the stress of having a lot of pressure; but the dude was paid. Have you had millions of dollars given to you to go with that expectation?

If Denny started paying you $25k per post over the next 5 years like the Blazers paid Oden for each point, I may start keeping better track.

If Denny paid me, I would switch to a writing style appropriate for great literature!

I'd go to work on this stuff!

If Denny paid you, I suggest you stop posting all together, except for self dong pics, start getting your drink on and blame HCP for becoming an alcoholic, that way everyone on S2 can feel sorry for you because it wasn't your fault. The expectations from everyone here were just too stressful.

You're right. When Denny makes me an offer, I should take it to O-Live, RealGM, and AARP or whatever that super-pro board is called. Get him to compete for me.

Zach came back and contributed. He wasn't bound to his athleticism like oden was.

Whatever the case, I 100% blame Oden for his lackluster motivation.

Zach didn't have another knee injury. Are you blaming Oden for his patella shattering? Did you see the look on his face when it happened? The disappointment? The recognition he was going to have to take the long and lonely road of rehab again? My heart broke for the guy. Be angry at the training staff for mis-rehabbing him. Be angry at GO's body for betraying him. But to be angry at Oden because he didn't become a monk during rehab? He was a hell of a lot more dedicated that a lot of other players.

Back off my boy Adonal! ;)

I agree with much of this post. There is blame on all sides, and certainly Greg should bear his fair share. However, I don't blame him enough to say he's the reason why he couldn't stay healthy. His body was just too fragile.

God, it still stings because you could see how good he would have been for us once he worked his way back into basketball shape.

I think he would be smart to pick the team with the best track record of keeping big men healthy. I really think he would be best served by becoming leaner and not so bulky. Sacrificing strength for agility and quickness (more Admiral, less Shaq) could really help him to stay on the court.

If he does the above, I think he averages 65-70 games a year for the next six years, playing 20-25 mpg.

R-E-P-P-E-D Find out what it means to me!

Greg Oden could choose his free agent destination as soon as Monday, his agent, Bill Duffy told NBA.com.

Oden is weighing whether to sign with a contender or a rebuilding team.

“We’ve looked at all the scenarios,” Duffy said. “There might be less pressure if he tries this with a team that’s rebuilding. Then again, the quality of the medical staff will matter. Maybe a winning team has chemistry that’s good or his role would be clearly defined.”

Oden has worked out for Miami, New Orleans, Sacramento, San Antonio, Atlanta and Dallas.

“Physically, he’s awesome,” Duffy said Friday afternoon. “We’re very happy with where he is. [His health and impact are] going to depend on monitoring him and his minutes.”

I think San Antonio would be the best place for Oden. He could play next to Tim Duncan and it would be the new version of the Twin Towers. Although I could see him going to New Orleans because of Monty Williams.

Mike Conley Jr. told Sean Deveney the Sporting News this week that he thinks Oden, in spurts, might be able to help a team.

not exactly a ringing endorsement...

Blake Griffin had the same injury, worked his ass off and came back at All Star level the following year.

Most players don't have repeated knee injuries. Again, are you blaming Oden for his injuries? If so, be specific how his laziness, lifestyle and your perceived lack of dedication resulted in the disintegration of his cartilage and the shattering of his patella.

It has taken him FOUR YEARS to get back on the court after a not as bad injury as Joel Przyvbilla's the same month. This is because he not dedicated himself in rehab. Drinking has played a huge part in this. Why exactly was he not playing last season? Too busy not caring.

Thank you for not answering my question and well as demonstrating your ignorance regarding the knee joint. Tendons can heal. Ligaments can actually be repaired stronger than they were before. Cartilage doesn't regenerate. Ever lose your meniscus cartilage? I'd much rather tear my ACL and MCL again that have lost my lateral meniscus, which is much better than losing your medial meniscus.

It's all Oden's fault.
