wasn't meant to be serious....minus the sam waterston comparison.
Whenever someone mentions L&O, I always imagine Jill Hennessy.
Republicans lose their mind over inflation. Democrats pass(by themselves) Inflation Reduction Plan. Inflation rate goes down. Republicans lose their minds about solution to the problem they were upset about.
Also, what this ultimately amounts to, is hey, I'm gonna pass a law to give you money. You say cool, thank you. Also, I'm gonna use a tiny piece of that money on crack. And I then pass (or propose) a new law that says you can't use the money for crack. Sounds good to me.
It sounds like you just said that inflation went down after the inflation reduction act.You think inflation is a partisan concern? What planet are you living on? Inflation affects everyone, and the economy is rated as the #1 concern among voters.
Inflation is largely caused by government over-spending, which is what the "Inflation Reduction Act" contributed to. They simply labeled it that to fool stupid people.
And there are many critics of the CPI used to calculate inflation, that it understates it. If you look at the monthly inflation over the past 10 years, it just went from insane to high.

The main reason for the inflation is greedy capitalism.
CEO’s got drunk on the earnings they received during the pandemic. It was disguised as a supply chain solutions issue, even though that got shored up a long time ago.
The CEO’s prostitute themselves to the shareholders and continuing record profits to make the group even more money is always the bottom line.
Grocery stores are pushing to merge to start a monopoly, which will cause even more price gouging.
This stuff has very little to do with policy. American capitalism has got out of control and the country is basically an oligarchy
Too many words. "Blame Joe Biden" is much easier to say and write. And for many tube sock for brains, it's easier to repeat.

Costs go up and they get passed along to the consumer, but, for some reason, when costs go down, prices don't go down at nearly the same level.
Things that make you go hmmmm.

Inflation is the growth of the money supply outpacing the increase of goods and services. The government is the primary culprit in causing an over-production of money, as they create it out of thin air.
"Profits" won't drive inflation, since no money is created. Economic bubbles contribution to inflation, and excess borrowing, which is why the Fed raises the interest rate to decrease inflation, which is exactly what they did. It wasn't "the inflation reduction act".

Fixed it for youIt's clearly the greed of KamalLollapalooza.

The fed is starting to believe that their manipulation of interest rates to cool inflation doesn’t have the impact it used to. Most likely because of the price gouging that is done to consumers.
Shareholders are a great deal of why companies keep prices so high. It’s now considered a failure if record profits aren’t made each quarter. Trying to relive the glory of corporate profiteering which was done during the pandemic.
"Price gouging" is used as an excuse by politicians to offshore the blame, then they claim they can come in and "rescue" the population from a problem they've caused. Not that price gouging doesn't occur, but it doesn't with goods for which there is healthy competition.
That's why they said most of it was from greed. They use those other reasons as excuses to raise prices and keep them high. Sure, some upward pressure has been applied. But not enough to explain thw skyrocketing prices.Another thing with food prices: much of the wheat and fertilizer in the world comes from Ukraine. So the war has caused the cost of fertilizer and wheat to go up, not to mention the cost of fuel. Then you have regulations being passed that are further putting the squeeze on farmers. Chicken's being slaughtered en masse because of the bird flu. There are reasons prices go up aside from "greed".

There have been several links posted on this forum to studies that have found this is the case.
